About China Three Gorges University
China Three Gorges University was established in the year 2000. China Three Gorges Medical University was established by the merger of the former Hubei Three Gorges University and the former Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power (Yichang) with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College was the predecessor of Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power (Yichang) and subordinate to the Ministry of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and the State Power Corporation. Gezhouba Hydropower Engineering College was merged with the former Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power to form the new Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Power.
The former Hubei Three Gorges University was formed with the merger of the Yichang Medical College, Yichang Vocational University and Yichang Normal College. China Three Gorges University implements the principle of production, study and research with the motto of serving hydroelectric industry and social and economic development.
