About M.Sc Agricultural Science

University of Southern Queensland offers two-year full-time M.Sc Agricultural Science programme. University of Southern Queensland also offers part-time M.Sc Agricultural Science programme. The programme is offered at Toowoomba campus. M.Sc Agricultural Science programme covers national and global challenges associated with agricultural production, climate risk analysis, soil mechanics, technologies in agriculture and food security in the 21st century. M.Sc Agricultural Science programme offers two different pathways of study- 

  • Research Project track- develops research skills through a project in the chosen disciplinary application area.

  • Research Training track- develops research capability and training skills for a professional career in science. To pursue the research project track, students must have approval from Program Director and a Supervisor. 

The Australian agricultural industry has a current demand for graduates and experts in this field. The career prospects of M.Sc Agricultural Science programme includes opportunities in the fields of agricultural consulting, climate risk analysis, farm technologies and precision agriculture, agricultural science laboratories, crop production, soils management and viticulture.

M.Sc Agricultural Science course structure is divided into 4 semesters and 16 units. To complete the degree, students have to complete 16 units, that is, 4 units per semester. M.Sc Agricultural Science programme is divided into 12 specialisation courses and 4 research courses. Those who are enrolled in external study mode, have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools and attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials and also use the facilities. It is mandatory for the students to attend the residential schools to pass the course. 

M.Sc Agricultural Science programme provides specialisations in Food Security in the 21st Century, Climate Risk, Agronomy, Agricultural Materials and Post-Harvest Technologies, Agricultural Soil Mechanics, Work-Integrated-Learning, Emerging Technologies in Agriculture, Critical Issues in Agriculture, Plant Microbe Interactions, Biology Foundations and Sustainable Resource Use.

University of Southern Queensland accepts the application for M.Sc Agricultural Science programme admission in the online mode. Eligibility

For M.Sc Agricultural Science programme admission at University of Southern Queensland, students have to meet the eligibility criteria first. Students should have passed three-year bachelor’s degree from an Australian university or other recognised university. Students who do not meet the required eligibility criteria, but have equivalent work experience, can also apply for the M.Sc Agricultural Science programme admission.
