It is recommended that the GMAT exam should be booked at least two months in advance to ensure slot availability. Candidates can also reschedule or cancel the GMAT exam, however, they will be charged according to the time left for the test date. The rule of a maximum of 5 attempts in a rolling 12-month period continues.
Candidates can take the GMAT Exam 2026 throughout their lifetime. However, in a year, candidates are restricted to taking only 5 GMAT attempts. Additionally, a minimum gap of 16 calendar days should be maintained between the two consecutive attempts.

When is the GMAT conducted? Those planning to schedule their upcoming GMAT exam date should remember the following key points:

It is possible to select any GMAT date, as per the application deadlines and preparation schedule. They can even register 24 hours before the selected GMAT exam date without paying any late registration fee.
GMAT exam dates are available all throughout the year, giving candidates flexibility to choose GMAT exam dates as per their convenience. So, if you are not prepared on one date, you can book the next GMAT exam date.
There are two GMAT exam modes: The GMAT test centre and the GMAT at-home (GMAT online) version. Both have different dates, and prior registration is a must.
The GMAT exam fees for a test-centre-delivered test are USD 275 plus taxes, while for the GMAT online (at-home) version is USD 300 plus taxes.
Candidates can register as early as 6 months before the exam date and even 24 hours before the GMAT exam.
In a year, applicants can retake the GMAT exam once every 16 days (cooling period), up to five times in a rolling 12-month period. In a lifetime, there is no limit to a lifetime.
