IELTS Versions & Format: Two versions - The Academic module and The General Training module
About IELTS Test: Four parts that take 2 hours 45 minutes. Listening, Reading & Writing tests are done in one sitting while Speaking test may be on the same date. 1 copy of your test report and up to 5 test report forms (TRFs) posted to your desired institution(s).
Conducting Authority: IELTS is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL)
Cost of Test: Academic and General Training tests cost the same: around Rs 7,900-Rs 8,900 in India.
Test Scores: There is no pass or fail report. IELTS uses a 9-point scoring system-the Overall Band Score (OBS) where total score varies between 0-9. Candidates receive their Test Report Form in 13 days after the test date
Validity: Scores are valid for two years. One can apply for an enquiry on results procedure within 6 weeks of the test date. You pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes

Dear Pooja, for IELTS, you need to visit their official website: www.ieltsidpindia.com and click on Register for IELTS. Based on the availability status, you can book the date and the city you want to take the exam on. Fill in the application form and make the payment. Once you complete the payment and the date and slot are confirmed, you need to courrier the same to IDP Head Office. You can check more information at their official page at:
For GRE, the procedure is almost the same. You need to have a ETS Account. Once you visit the official website, you need to select if you want to choose GRE General or Subject. Select the date and time slots and fill in the application form and make the payment.

Hello Jyotsna, There is nothing like syllabus for IELTS exam. It is just a proficiency test for english language. There are 4 sections in the test: Reading, writing, speaking and listening. For the reading section, there would be an unseen passage and some questions related to that, you would need to find answers from the passage. for the listening section, you would have to answer the question based on the sound clip you hear. For the writing section, you would be needed to write two essays on the topic given. As for the speaking test, you would have to talk face to face with the instructor for about 12-15 minutes in english. I have given computer delivered IELTS myself and scored 7.0 in first attempt. I didn't do any coaching or read anything. Although i am going to give you official link for the practice tests:
