after completing mcat with good score how to approach for any universities.also i wanted to know fee structure for mbbs in canada.

anirudha vats 11th Apr, 2021

Hi,

Well Canada follows the same system as US. There is no MBBS degree there. You do your undergraduate and then take admission in PG course that is MD for four years and then get into residency program to further complete the entire education. This is how the process works.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

Hello Tapishwar ,

Medical schools in the USA, Australia, Canada and the Caribbean Islands use the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) for admission. Candidates interested to pursue a MD degree in the US or Canada are required to take the standardised MCAT 2018. The test aims to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge, understanding of scientific concepts and principles pursuing education in medicine. Accepted by the health professionals and the graduate schools as an important aspect of the selection process, MCAT is conducted by Association of American Medical colleges (AAMC). The computer-based test, MCAT 2018, evaluates aspirants on four criteria; Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems; Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems; Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior; and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. MCAT is being conducted 23 times throughout 2018, with no test dates scheduled in February.

  • Exam Name: Medical College Admission Test

  • Commonly Known as: MCAT

  • Exam Level: International

Candidates aspiring to pursue a career in medicine or related field (health professional) can take the MCAT 2018. The courses which are offered by the health professional institutions and need an MCAT 2018 score for admission are:

  • Podiatric and

  • Veterinary medicine

Aspirants from countries other than USA and Canada, who have completed or are pursuing their MBBS degrees, are not required to obtain any special permission to register and appear for MCAT 2018.

The degrees offered by the US medical schools are MD degrees. Candidates are, therefore, required to possess an undergraduate degree before they apply to the course. Before they can apply to the medical schools of USA, Aspirants are normally required to have completed the following courses:

  • Biology – One year

  • Physics – One year

  • English – One year

  • Chemistry (through organic chemistry) – Two years

The registration for MCAT 2018 can only be done online. The process begins by the candidate creating an AAMC account. An AAMC account can be created by appearing the candidates personal details  like email, full name and gender. That done, the aspirant may next sign in to the their accounts using the User ID and password. The same login credentials can also be used to maintain the MCAT account for any other correspondence or getting MCAT related information from AAMC. Once the aspirant submits the online registration form, the candidate will receive an email confirmation which will have the complete details of the exam. Aspirants are recommended to do the MCAT 2018 registration at least 60 days before to the chosen exam date.

The duration of MCAT 2018 will be a total of 7 hours and 27 minutes. The total actual exam time will be of 6 hours 15 minutes (approx) duration. The computer-based test consists of the following four main sections:

  • Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems

I completed my 12th from india this year what are elligiblities to apply for mcat

shreyash patil 21st May, 2019

There is no as such eligibility for the International students.Even I had same query like you.I had just finished my 12 grade, that time I had sent an email to mcat@aamc.org.

If you have completed certain bachelor's or completing it,then in that case you need to contact AAMC.(Association of American Medical Colleges).

Hi, Im I have completed my Bsc.Physics and I wanna do MBBS in canada. Is that possible for me to apply for MCAT 2018?

anirudha vats 12th Apr, 2021

Hi,

Well there is no MBBS in Canada. You will have to go for MD and then for that you need to first spend an entire year in Canada doing Pre medicine tracka nd then give MCAT and finally go for medical school. This is the general route that you need to take to complete medical studies.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

Can a pharm D student apply for MCAT?

bhavya banthia 14th Jun, 2018

There really aren't any eligibility requirements for the MCAT. You just apply for either the allopathic, osteopathic, podiatric or veterinary field and do the test! You will need to state the reason for doing the MCAT. There are only eligibility requirements for the different courses (allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine) that require the MCAT for purposes of admission. However usually you have an undergraduate college degree under your belt first so you can fulfil the graduate school requirements.

Can I give MCAT if I am taking my degree from private health professional school.

Shivani Bhatt 2nd May, 2018

Hi Aakash,

The MCAT eligibility for international students clearly states that "If you are in or hold an MBBS degree program, you can register for the exam without seeking special permission."

I am not very clear when you say you are taking a degree from "private health professional school". Please specifically mention your course.

Please visit MCAT Eligibility for more information.

Best wishes,
