My MBBS course will start in 2021. Will the ECFMG 2023 ACCREDITION GUIDELINE affect me in any way? Can I register before 2023?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 17th Aug, 2019
ECFMG states that effective 2023, Doctors applying for EFMCG certificatiom should have graduated from a College that is appropriately accredited. If you are planning to study MBBS in India, all colleges would be recognised by MCI. By 2021, MCI would have been replaced by NMC and all Colleges participating in All India Counselling are duly accredited. So even if you join MBBS in India in 2021, you would still be eligible to take USMLE once you complete your MBBS. If you start your course in 2021, as it is a 5 and 1/2 year course, you will complete it by 2026 approximately. So you cannot take USMLE in 2023 but can take it after you complete the course. You cannot get a USMLE Id before completing your course. Your qualification will be insufficient.

I have post graduation degree in obs and gynae from india, do i need to clear all the steps of usmle or enough to appear for usmle step 3?

Mahaveer Student Expert 12th Sep, 2019

Hi,

Before you apply for any of the three stages of the USMLE, you should get comfortable with the release. ... Stage 3 evaluates whether you can apply therapeutic information and ... The main day of the Step 3 assessment is alluded to as Foundations of ... You may need to react to inquiries regarding data showing up in people in general.

In many states, you have to pass Step 3 preceding the third year of your residency program, which can be a test as you balance residency program necessities, individual duties, and changing in accordance with life in the United States.

In spite of the fact that Step 3 is the least "high-stakes" test of the 3, it at any rate merits a segment of a similar arrangement and work. The other reason is that, much like Step 2 contrasts from Step 1 (with both CS and CK), Step 3 has some new segments that will be less recognizable.

The base passing score in 2013 for Step 3 is 190. To accomplish a passing score, you ordinarily need to reply somewhere in the range of 55% and 65% of the inquiries accurately (the rate required to pass can change dependent on trouble of your individual test "structure").

All the very best.

Im pursuing my mbbs . Am i eligible to give step one of USMLE after second year of my MBBS

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 23rd Aug, 2019
Dear Jasmanjit, according to the USMLE rules, any Candidate who is officially enrolled in or is a graduate of a Medical School which is outside US or Canada but listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools is eligible for Step 1. Now your College should meet EFMCG Criteria and should be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. For that you will have to contact your College Administration. If they are listed, then you are eligible to take up Step 1.

Can we easily get a Residency program in USA after completing USMLE Exams?

Mahek 5th Jul, 2019

Hello Raja,

As per the usual norm, you can apply for residential training for clearing USMLE exam and then start your residency. So essentially, you have to repeat your training in the USA before you can take up residency as an international student. These are the steps only if you have completed your MD in another country and are planning to then go to the USA.
