how much should we score in TOEFL exam to get a good college in abroad

Apurva anand 5th Jul, 2019

Hello Shweta, scores between 85-90 in TOEFL are considered as pretty good for getting good colleges abroad. But keep in mind that, you can't be admitted only on the basis of TOEFL marks. If you are looking for a technical degree in the USA, you should take the SAT exam to prove your skills. TOEFL is just a language proficiency test.

I want to study biology in abroad top universities like MIT how can I ...which exam should I prefer?

Shanu Anand 29th Jun, 2019
Hi Akansha,
For an Indian, its very tough to get into MIT especially for undergrad. Every year only four to five students get chance to study in MIT. And the requirements are :-

If you are taking SAT try to score 1550+/1600. Though they don't care for your marks of standardized test but it's the need only.

If you are taking ACT get 34+/36. As i said earlier it doesn't count much.

If you are national Olympiad winner then you can make a cut because they care a lot about these things.

If you are an athlete (state or national winner) you can make a cut.

If you are opting a major then show your immense interest in it otherwise your application will be thrown direct to dustbin.

If you are in school then do whatever you are interest in and atleast get some award in it. Its very helpful.

Always try to be on the peak of your class if you are in school. Its matter a lot.

Keep good relation with your teachers because their letter of recommendations

Do lots of social work and volunteering but passionately.

Write a killer essay. Anything you can mention, from your school athlete game to your masturbating habit but remember you just need to cite ownself within a piece of paper.

When writing your essay, be sure you are mentioning something that they like. Its very important.

Last but most effective ' BE WHAT You ARE AND NEVER PRETEND TO BE LIKE SOMEONE ELSE'.

I want to join ,Columbia university for mass communication , how can I crack ilets & toefl test?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 20th May, 2019
Hello,

Tips for ELT
For Reading, read regularly, particularly textbooks, newspapers and/or materials that cover various subject areas. Increase your vocabulary using memory cards, skim quickly to identify important points in a passage and draw inferences. For Listening, watching movies and television, listening to the radio and to the resources available on the internet, helps a lot. Also attend lectures or talks and try to outline the key points. For speaking, practise with native speakers of English or join a club whose members converse in English about travel, movies, music, culture etc.

Prepare salient points to start with and practise giving responses for a minute to gradually increase the time. For improving writing skills; list out familiar topics and practise writing about them. Increase your word power, knowledge of idiomatic speech and grammatical structures so you can use them naturally when writing. One must plan to take the ELT two to three months before your earliest application deadline, so that your scores arrive at your institutions in time. One should ideally start preparing for the test at least eight weeks before the opted test date.

GRE ,IELTS ,TOEFL which exam is more useful for an engineering student ......to get a job abroad..?

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 15th May, 2019
GRE is more useful and easy to crack even. There are many colleges which consider GRE for selection so it increases the chance of getting selected. To crack the exam there will be lots of hard work to be done. Then the paper will be easy. On the comparison basis GRE is good and preferred mostly by most of the graduates.
Hope it helped!
