Hello sir Do I have to give GRE test to study hospitality management in Canada?

Debosmitha Bhattacharyya Student Expert 17th Jan, 2019

Hello Anmol,

In Canada, GRE is required for master's level admission, and some universities and programs may need a good score in the test too. This test helps universities or colleges to measure the ability of applicants for advanced education. Students who intend to study business don't require appearing for GRE exam.

Many universities in Canada offer study programmes taught in English. Before starting a programme, you need to have a basic knowledge of the English language. So, you will have to sit for an exam named IELTS.

Good luck!

I am pursuing my final year biotechnology am I eligible for masters in USA this 2020 jan ?? And WAt should be gre score for top universities

Neha Mohanty 25th Feb, 2019
Hi Vinutha,

Yes you are eligible for the course starting 2020, provided you are done with your graduation this year.
Also, a score above 325 is good for getting a chance at the top ranked universities across US.
Having said that, your gre score is not the sole criteria on the basis of which you will be selected. Your scores play a certain percentage, but other factors on your resume will also be taken into account and would have equal or eve more weightage in your selection criterias to these institutions
Let me know if you need further clarifications.

I have passed my 12th class with science last year and want to study abroad through gre for my graduation .am I eligible???

Sumedha Saxena 20th Feb, 2019
Hello Yogesh,

You are eligible to appear for international examinations, however, GRE is an examination for post-graduate education and thus it requires you to have completed your undergraduation.

In order to apply for undergraduate programmes abroad you can give examinations like SAT, ACT, TOEFL iBT, IELTS, CAE and CPE examinations.

These examinations test you in the domains of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Humanities and Writing.

1. For testing English:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for countries like USA and Canada.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for countries like UK, Australia and New Zealand.
  • The Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and The Certificate of Proficience in English (CPE) for countries like UK.

2. Testing of other parameters:

  • SAT - It tests Critical Reading, Math and Writing.
  • ACT- It tests English, Math, Reading and Science with an optional Writing section.

How long are the results of these examinations valid for?

  • SAT and ACT scores are valid for five years, i.e. these scores expire after five years of examination and cannot be used to apply to universities.
  • Similarly TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years after the examination.
  • CAE and CPE results too are valid for two years after the examination.

How to prepare?

  • For TOEFL and IELTS: You can improve when you’re not "studying." Listen to English podcasts, read the news in English, and watch English movies. If you have friends who plan to take the TOEFL, speak English with them instead of your native language. And if you are lucky enough to have native English speaking friends, talk with them as often as you can.
  • For SAT and ACT: You need to start reading heavy texts like Native American Speeches, Classic Novels etc., alon with it you need to keep practicing paper after papers, you need to keep you basics in check (grammar) and overall you need to stay focused.

You might have to give a SAT Subject Test in your respective field of interest.

What is SAT Subject Test?

  • SAT Subject Tests are college admission exams on specific subjects. These are the only national admission tests where you choose the tests that best showcase your strengths and interests.
  • There are 20 SAT Subject Tests in five general subject areas: English, history, languages, mathematics and science.
  • Subject Tests test you on your knowledge of subjects on a high school level. The best way to prepare is to take the relevant courses and work hard in them.

Career options which open after doing science in high school:

  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Merchant Navy
  • Commercial Pilot
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Business Administration and Management Studies
  • Commerce
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Industrial Design
  • Forensic Science

All the best!

I hope this helps!

Do revert back in case of any doubt.

Debosmitha Bhattacharyya Student Expert 14th Feb, 2019

Hello Sakshi,

  • Applicants for a Masters in Japan should have a Bachelors degree or an international equivalent. You may have to sit an entrance examination in your subject area or be asked to provide a graduate entry test score such as GRE so check what the practice is at your chosen university.
  • IELTS /TOEFL score for English university.
  • If you want to join a course delivered in Japanese, then you will have to demonstrate proficiency, most likely through a Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.

most commonly ielts and gre requires same preparation its basic topics covered in both the exams which the students should be confident and well aware of!

Paper-based GRE tests are available only twice a year: once in November, and once in February. The 2019-2020 tests were held on November 9th, 2019, and February 1st, 2020

Compared to the ACT and the SAT, the GRE is typically considered more difficult because, even though the math tested on the GRE is a lower level than the math tested on the SAT and ACT, the GRE has more challenging vocabulary and reading passages, and the math problems have trickier wording or require higher-level

Basically both of them will involve same procedures, same preperation, incase your travelling to any europe countries, ielts is most preffered.

confidence is the main key responsible for any test to be successfull!

Thankyou, Good luck for everything ahead :)

How can a avg student prepare for gre nicely

manisha.gupta 29th Dec, 2018

Here are some preparation tips given below, you can prefer for GRE Preparation, The exam is easy to crack if it is Planned & followed properly.

GRE General test evaluates a Candidate's verbal, quantitative, critical thinking and analytical writing skills which are compiled in three sections- Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.

GRE Subject Test measures a candidate’s knowledge in specific fields. They are: Biology, Chemistry, Literature in English, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.

You can follow the tips:

Practice: Practice is an unending task and cannot be compensated any other alternative method. There is no shortcut to practice. You should be thorough with the GRE test pattern, rules, and format.

Mark and Review: GRE allows students to mark the question for later review. In case you have a doubt regarding any answer, You should mark the question to revisit later to review it.

No negative marking: As the GRE test does not penalise candidates for wrong answers, You should not waste time trying to solve answers which are difficult to solve. You should ideally mark them for later review. But you should go back and try answering the difficult questions. Leaving a problem will do no good.

Tracking time: Candidates may be capable of writing an incredible answer at leisure, but you do not have the leisure during the exam. So, tracking the time is very important to finish GRE exam on time. It is advisable that you should complete the test 5-10 before the scheduled end-time.

Review: You should review your answers for mistakes. While occasional mistakes may not affect the overall score, repeated typos along with spelling and grammatical errors may prove to be fatal.

Good Luck!
