Step 1 syllabus includes Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Biostatistics, Behavioral science. Hence it can be taken once you've passed 2nd Prof MBBS exam
Step 2 ck includes all the final year subjects. Hence can be taken during or after final year.
Step 2 cs is OSCE exam... can be taken anytime depending on your clinical skills.
Hope this helps.

When to apply for ecfmg application if one wants to write usmle step 1 in November 2018

Shahin Isha 28th Jun, 2018
Hello Priya,
As most of the colleges don't participate in electronic communication with ecfmg, some documents have to be sent after online form fillup . The entire time for paperwork, sending it to ecfmg via courier, their processing time takes quite a few weeks.
Hence it is advisable to start application 3to 4 months prior to start of eligibility period (the triad of months).

How to prepare for USMLE?

Ahana Bhan 26th Nov, 2017
USMLE or United States Medical Licensing Examination is a 3 step exam.
Step 1 can be taken anytime after the second yr of MBBS.
Step 2 consists of 2 exams : CK and CS i.e. Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills respectively.
While step 1 and step 2 CK can be taken in India at the Prometric centres, step 2 CS is offered at 4 centres in the US only as it is a practical exam where simulated patients are given to you with different case scenarios.
Step 3 is the last step and can be taken either before or after applying for the match.
Apart from clearing these examinations with good scores, you must have certain activites which give you an edge over the others like Research, US clinical experience in the form of electives or observerships, voluntary work etc.
This is the basic overview of the USMLE. Feel free to ask any more queries and i will be more than happy to help.
Good luck.
