Is it difficult to clear LSAT ?

Ria Vishisht 23rd Apr, 2019

hello,

There is nothing called tough if really work hard for it.

The LSAT-India is a test of reasoning and reading skills, not a test to see whether you happened to have memorized the right facts or equations. The theory behind the LSAT-India is democratic and inclusive. It holds that students acquire critical thinking skills over their educational lifetimes, and that these skills are the most important for the study of law. Good critical thinking skills may be acquired in virtually any educational programme anywhere so long as it is rigorous and of high quality. Thus, no training in any specific field or set of fields is required to do well on the LSAT-India. The test rewards candidates with generalised abilities adaptable to a variety of circumstances.

The three multiple-choice question types in the LSAT are:

Reading Comprehension Questions-These questions measure the ability to read, with understanding and insight, examples of lengthy and complex materials similar to those commonly encountered in law school. The Reading Comprehension section contains four sets of reading questions, each consisting of a selection of reading material, followed by five to eight questions that test reading and reasoning abilities.

Analytical Reasoning Questions-These questions measure the ability to understand a structure of relationships and to draw logical conclusions about that structure. You are asked to reason deductively from a set of statements and rules or principles that describe relationships among persons, things, or events. Analytical Reasoning questions reflect the kinds of complex analyses that a law student performs in the course of legal problem solving.

Logical Reasoning Questions-These questions assess the ability to analyze, critically evaluate, and complete arguments as they occur in ordinary language. Each Logical Reasoning question requires the test taker to read and comprehend a short passage, then answer a question about it. The questions are designed to assess a wide range of skills involved in thinking critically, with an emphasis on skills that are central to legal reasoning. These skills include drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, determining how additional evidence affects an argument, applying principles or rules, and identifying argument flaws.

Hi there! I wanted to know how if LSAT is the only way through which i can apply for LLM in abroad?

sounak chakraborty 10th Mar, 2019

Hi,Shruti

Yes LSAT is the only way through which you can apply for LLM in abroad.

LSAT- is an integral part of the law school admission process in the United States, Canada, and a growing number of other countries. It provides a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools can use for the JD(Jury doctor) program.

LSAT exam is conducted in two formats- One LSAT-global and other is LSAT-India. Although there is no difference as such in the concepts. Former is administrated by LSAC, mainly for those who wish to do it in USA and Canada. While the later one for exclusively for Indian universities as entrance to get admission.

The only difference between both of the exam is - in LSAT- India there is no section or AWA writing while its there for LSAT global.

If you wish to prepare for the exam , you can do it in india. And while applying for the exam visit to the LSAC sites and apply. Your exam will be held Indian given centers by LSAC.

Eligibility Criteria for LSAT

A candidate should complete his/her 10+2 if applying for an LLB degree abroad.

A Bachelor’s degree is required to apply for LLM

Application Procedure for LSAT

There are three ways to apply for LSAT:

Online

You need to have a “My LSAT Account” to register online.

You can’t register online if you need a fee reduction, testing accommodation.

Telephone Registration

A student can register by calling at LSAC.

Mail-In Registration

Once you have registered for a test during the regular registration period, you may not withdraw or cancel your registration and reregister for that same test during the late registration period.

Fee Structure for LSAT

The LSAT fee for USA is $ 165 while for Canada is $ 164. Students interested in pursuing Law from any other country can contact LSAC directly.

LSAT Exam Format

The test consists of five 35-minute sections of multiple-choice questions. Four of the five sections contribute to the test taker's score. The un-scored section, commonly referred to as the variable section, typically is used to pretest new test questions or to pre-equate new test forms. The placement of this section will vary. A 35-minute writing sample is administered at the end of the test. LSAC does not score the writing sample, but copies of the writing sample are sent to all law schools to which a student apply.

Test Centres In India

You need to setup an LSAC account and then it appears there are 4 test centers in India according to the LSAC website.
