Graduate research examination or GRE is accepted by majority of colleges for MS in USA.

One must also give english proficiency exams like TOEFL/IELTS to qualify for MS.

Hence, a valid score in GRE  & TOEFL/IELTS is mandatory.

Alongwith the exam one has to submit following requirements:--

1. Minimum 2-3 recommendation letters from professors.
2. GRE and TOEFL proofs besides scores.
3. Academic transcript
4. SOP- statement of purpose
5. Photocopies of passport
6. Work experience certificate if any.
7. Updated resumes as some University do ask for it.
8. Essays as some University have this as mandatory requirements.
9. Certification for extracurricular activities as mentioned in your applied form.

Some institutions do accept GMAT scores as well alongwith GRE.
Anything above 320/340 in GRE and above 110/120 in TOEFL shall fetch top 40 colleges for MS.

i had 1 backlog in 1st sem . i can apply for gre exam?

dhanshree1501 16th Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

GRE or GMAT is not concerned about your Grades or is even remotely concerned of how well or poorly you are doing at your current institution. It is  just like any other competitive examination where you clear the age criteria, pay the money and go and give your best exam on the day.

But, if you do have backlogs, then those will cause you some problems during your admission to the institute you are trying to apply via GRE. So no GRE does not care about your backlogs, but your application to the institutions will for sure.

I hope this helps.

All the best!
