Graduate Record Exam
Dear aspirant....!!
The two multiple-choice GRE sections, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning, are each scored on a scale from 130-170 in one-point increments. The lowest possible score on each of those sections is 130.
Analytical Writing—the essay section—is slightly different as it is scored from 0-6 in half-point increments. The lowest score for Analytical Writing is a 0.
The minimum score in GRE terms, then, would be a 260 combined Verbal and Quantitative score with an Analytical Writing score of 0.
Hope your query is solved!
All the best!
The GMAT is taken by people who plan to attend business school and/or an MBA program. It’s used almost exclusively for admission to these types of programs. The composite score takes only your scores from the Verbal and Quantitative sections into account. Your scores on Analytical Writing and Integrated Reasoning are not included in this score.
The most significant difference between the GMAT and the GRE is that the GRE is used as part of admissions for a wide variety of graduate school programs, while the GMAT is only used to apply to business schools.
The GMAT has two sections that test math skills: the Quantitative section and the Integrated Reasoning section.Quantitative Section
Within the Quantitative section there are two types of questions: Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency. The Integrated Reasoning question also tests quantitative skills. This section contains four question types: graphics interpretation, two-part analysis, table analysis, and multi-source reasoning.
In GRE Quantitative Reasoning tests your skills in the following areas:
Hello aspirant,
Business analytics is one of the very trending and emerging field in the current and future technological world. So upto me it's a very good choice of choosing that field. And coming to colleges and universities it would be suggestible after knowing score.
All the very best!!
Yes you can definitiely apply for GRE with a year gap, but post writing your GRE once you shortlist colleges, make sure that you have done something atleast after dropping UPSC preparations so as to justify the two years extra gap, because having a too long gap without any reasonable explanation might make your chances bleak of getting through your desired college.
Yes you can definitely apply for GRE, this will not be an issue, but make sure that you mention the same while you write your statement of purpose and also try to do some courses during this year while you prepare for GRE, this will help you to fill up the voids in your resume.
Hello Rupam!!
I would suggest you to search on google , the institutes for GRE prepration in your city and visit them. In case you dont have any then youtube is the best medium for this, there is lot of content on youtube for GRE.
Hello Rupam,
Well there are individual differences and people vary in capabilities. Having said that, there is no exact time to start preparing for GRE. It varies from person to person. Since the score is valid for 5 years, some people choose to take it very early, whereas some people leave it for the end. The ideal time to take the GRE would be around 1 to 1.5 years before you intend on joining a university. To be on the safe side, you should start preparing for the exam around 3 months before you take it. If you give the GRE at an early date, you will have sufficient time to research your options and narrow down on a probable list of universities. Again, it completely depends on the person.
Hope this helps. All the best.
Hello student,
GRE's only criteria is that you should have completed you graduation from a university recognised by UGC. As you have done this, you are eligible for sitting for GRE examination.
But know this that the colleges won't give you preference while taking admission, as you have 3 years gap with no work experience. You need to score too high to make a chance.
Cheers!!
Here we have explained the entire process of applying for an MS programme in the USA, right from the time one needs to do research till final submission of the application form.
Read ahead to know the exact steps to apply for MS in the US:
1. Choose universities
The first step while applying for MS in the US is to make a list of universities which offer the candidate's choice of programme. This should be done around the months of May or June of the previous year. Ideally, one should start the process of admission at least 15 months prior to admission. While the US admission cycle has three intakes --Fall, Spring and Summer- a majority of the programmes start in Fall i.e., around September.
2. Check deadlines
Once the candidate has made a list of the colleges of his choice, the next step should be to check the deadlines of the specific courses the candidate is applying for. Usually, universities in the US do not have a common deadline for all courses. Therefore, it is necessary to check the individual departments of the universities to know the opening and closing dates for applications to MS in the US. Usually, applications for Fall start around September and close between December-January, though some universities accept applications till February.
Also, the flexibility offered by the USA allows the student to apply for the course through three plans - Early admission plan, Regular admission and Rolling admission. Regular admission plan follows the same procedure of setting deadlines for admission by universities every year. On the other hand, early admission allows an aspirant to apply and fix admission before the start of the Regular admission. Rolling admission has the advantage of making application to the university of one's choice anytime of the year, provided there are vacant seats.
