Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 20th Oct, 2020

hi,

see NIT rourkela offers admission to mtech course on following discipline from mechanical branch,

Machine Design & Analysis

Production Engineering

Thermal Engineering

Cryogenics & Vacuum Technology

generally admission is based on gate score as well as academic scores, however Differential academic qualifications across the departments have been made considering the departmental requirement, availability of candidates in the respective departments and uniform growth of all departments in the Institute. so its totally depends on the authorities decision. however you may definitely apply for relevant discipline as well as mechanical engineering.

what is the eligibility critwria for gre/gmat/gate. (in the sense of class 12 marks) and will gate scores be considered in foreign universities

Sarthak Raj 6th Sep, 2020

Talking with reference to Class 12th Marks, there's no such criteria in GRE/GMAT exams. All you'll need is a valid GRE/GMAT score that'll help you get a better college/University in foreign. But if you'll talk of GATE,since it's an Engineering Aptitude test,it's score is valid in every Indian Institutes & a selected lists of foreign universities also considers admission based on your GATE score, which include National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and Technical University of Munich and RWTH Aachen in Germany.

if i have good marks for GRE will my 12th marks matter to take admission in any good foreign university

Shreya Singh Student Expert 6th Sep, 2020

Hello,

GRE is graduate record examination which is held by educational testing services . This exam is conducted for students to study post graduation programs in foreign studies. This exam requires no academic qualifications. You just have to be in your final year of college or passed out. Your 12th marks doesn't matter for GRE. So, just focus on your preparation.

Hope this helps.

sir my jeemain rank is 236666 i belong to tamilnadu can i get a seat in engineering in my home state or in any nit or iiit?

Anurag Khanna 29th Sep, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

According to the category rank you have mentioned in the question you cannot get any of the NITs or IIITs as per previous year's cut-offs but I would suggest you to sit for some state counselling because in some of the state government colleges you can get admission on such ranks.

Note that the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors.

So you can use JEE-Main College Predictor to predict your chances of admission in different engineering colleges of India :-

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

GATE or GRE which is best exam? and India is best for m-tech? or other countries are better for MS?

aakriti 15th Sep, 2020

If you are planning to pursue Mtech in India and are confused between GATE or GRE, then you must inquire about the which test is accepted in the university of your choice. Not many universities in India accept GRE for Mtech. Except for this, GRE and GATE differ majorly when it comes to structure of question paper. I came across helpful blogs on GRE  (https://leverageedu.com/blog/gre/) and GATE (https://leverageedu.com/blog/gate-exam/) do given them read.

I have 7.04 CGPA and having 2 years of experience if i want to apply for MIS course in Unversities like Arizona, what would be least GRE score at least i shall have?

bhallaaamna 25th Jul, 2020

Hi ,

The minimum GPA required by good universities for MS abroad (including Arizona) is 3 on 4. Since you already have a little low GPA , you really need to score well in the GRE Exam. You should be able to score atleast 320+ to get into a decent university.

The positive in your application would be your experience as it really counts and gives you an edge over others.

Sir, Im a biotechnology graduate and I want to do my MS . Please tell which exam would better to pursue the same, GATE or GRE?

Trisha Bhattacharyya 23rd Aug, 2020

Hello.

  • Firstly, your higher study degree must reflect the kind of job you are seeking in the future. Is it something related to research and development, or in the teaching sector or in the corporate world- that is the most important thing that needs to be sorted out first.
  • Next, your GPA and the internships also play an important role in deciding. Universities that accept GRE scores, pay a lot of weightage on the internships that you have done till date, the letters of recommendation and your published papers. On the other hand, the institutions that accept GATE scores such as IITs, NITs, BHU, etc pay equal weightage on your overall GPA and your interviews.
So, in short, if you have GPA in the higher range of 8-10 then you can go for either of them and if it is in the lower range of 6-7, go for GRE.
  • The other important thing that you need to keep in mind is competition. About 20-22k students appear for GATE BT every year, while it is over a lakh for GRE takers.
  • The syllabus for both differ as well. You need basic English knowledge, verbal reasoning and speaking skills for GRE and only subjective knowledge for GATE.
  • Please note that MTech from prestigious institutions in India such as IIT Bombay have as much value as a degree from abroad. So decide wisely.

Hope this helps.
