Top Scholarships in France:Every year, more than 300 meritorious young Indian graduates are awarded scholarships totaling up to Rs. 8 crores to pursue their higher education in France.

1.  Charpak Scholarship

Named after renowned physicist and Nobel peace prize recipient George Charpak, the Charpak scholarship is one of the most popular scholarship programs offered by the French Government.

The Charpak scholarship offers funding at three levels;

a. Master’s program: Scholarship for the master’s programme is offered for one to two years of study in France. The recipients get a monthly stipend of 615 euros for 10 months plus a medical insurance coverage of upto 300 euros a year.

Other benefits include:

  • Full tuition waiver at public universities; partial tuition waivers may be granted by other institutions
  • Assistance to find affordable student accommodation
  • Free student visa, including CEF fee waiver

b. The Research Internship Program: This programme allows students to train in a French laboratory for three months i.e., from May to July. The research programme is suited for economics, engineering and science students. The scholars are given a monthly stipend of 310 euros in addition to a minimum allowance of 436 euros for internship of more than 8 weeks.

c. The Exchange Program: Under this programme, students can study in France for a period of one to four months at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level. Students will get a monthly stipend of 615 euros in addition to medical insurance and free student visa.

Selection for this scholarship programme is based on a strong academic record.  Knowledge in the French language is a added bonus although it is not mandatory.

2. Alliance Française Scholarship

Aspirants planning to pursue a master’s degree in France can avail the Alliance Française Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded for 10 months, generally, from September to June. However, it can be renewed for another 10 months upon re-application.

The scholarship covers the following:

  • Waiver on student visa
  • Medical insurance coverage
  • Assistance in finding accommodation
  • Full tuition fee waiver at public universities or partial tuition fee waivers by other institutions.

How to apply: Aspirants need to contact campus France and email them the filled up application forms. Applications, generally, close by June every year.

3. Eiffel Scholarship

Offered by the France Ministry Foreign Affairs through Campus France, the Eiffel scholarship is available for students from the fields of Engineering, Management, Political Science and Law. The scholarship is applicable to both Master’s and Ph.D students.

The scholarship covers the following:

  • The programme pays your expenses upto  1200 euros a  month
  • Travel expenses for the scholars
  • The scholarship also covers health insurance
  • Campus France helps you in arranging accommodation.

How to apply: The Eiffel application form must be filled and sent to French institution you are applying to along with you application form. You have to ask your university to nominate you for the Eiffel scholarship.

4.  Raman Charpak Scholarship

The Raman Charpak Scholarshipis a single-phase fellowship scheme for PhD research scholars to research at an Indian or French research institute. The scholarship enables scholars to carry out their research for three to six months in a French university.

The scholarship covers the following:

  • 1300 Euros a month for Indian students in France, including accommodation charges plus Social Security charges.
  • Air ticket (one return airfare in economy class between India and France)
  • Insurance coverage for both travel and health.
  • Any administrative costs for Visa and Registration.

How to apply: You can apply for the scholarship online. The deadline for the application is usually in May every year.

5.  The Emile-Boutmy Scholarship

The Emile-Boutmy Scholarship was created by the Science Po Paris Foundation in order to attract talented students to France’s educational system. It is applicable to both Undergraduate and master’s students.

The scholarship covers the following:

  1. A grant upto €7,300 a year as tuition grant for the three years of the undergraduate programme and a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €5000 a year.
  2. A grant upto €10,000 a year as tuition fees for the two years of Masters and a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €6,000 a year.

How to apply: You can apply on the Science Po website. The deadline for the undergraduate programs is usually in May and that for Master’s is in April.

6.   Audencia Nantes scholarship

Offered by Audencia Nantes Research Department and Crédit Agricole, the scholarship focuses majorly on the food and agribusiness sector. Therefore, the scholarship is available for students who want to pursue Master of Science in Food and Agribusiness Management.

The scholarship covers the following:

  • Tuition waiver of up to euro 13,000
  • Support from Audencia Nantes Research Department in the launch and development of a study that addresses challenges in the food and agribusiness sector.

How to apply: The applications are available online.Applicants will have to attach a proposal dealing with the development of new products, processes or business plan.

7. Grenoble INP Scholarship

The Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation supports a scholarship program for International students who wish to attend an international master program at Grenoble INP.

Grenoble INP is a French technological university system consisting of six engineering schools.

The scholarship programme offers 5000 euros per semester both for master’s level students and beyond that.

How to apply: Aspirants have to apply to Grenoble INP in order to avail the scholarship.

 

8. EDHEC Business School scholarship

The EDHEC Business School offers many scholarships to help candidates who apply to study at the institute. The scholarships are presented on the basis of the students academic profile and financial situation.

The scholarships is given in three levels:

  • Excellence Scholarship: 40% reduction in tuition fees for outstanding profile candidates applying before 31st March.
  • Distinction Scholarship: 30% reduction in tuition fees for high-profile candidates applying before 30th June.
  • Foundation Scholarship: 20% reduction in tuition fees for high-profile candidates applying before 30th June.

How to apply: Aspirants have to apply to study at EDHEC Business School to be eligible for the scholarship. Requests for financial aid and scholarships must be made at the time of application with the Financial Aid & Scholarship Form.
