Aspirants who are planning to apply to health professional institutes are eligible to take the MCAT exam. However, if you are not applying to a health professions school, or currently enrolled as a medical student other than MBBS, you may obtain “special permission” to register for the exam.

If you hold an MBBS degree or are in an MBBS program, you may register for the MCAT exam without seeking special permission.

According to AAMC, more than 85,000 students sit for MCAT every year, which is a computer-based test evaluating a candidate on three scales, namely, Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning, and Biological Sciences.

Can i give my mcat exam directly after passing class 12 boards or i have to join some medical collage first

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 13th Feb, 2020

MCAT is for Candidates who want to pursue Medicine in the United States, Canada, Carribean islands and Australia. If you are from India, you need to complete your 12th with Physucs, Chemistry, Biology and English as your core subjects and then appear for NEET. Because qualifying in NEET is mandatory even for students who want to study MBBS abroad. Once you qualify in NEET, you can appear for MCAT and then start the process for applying to study Medicine in any of these Countries.

Animesh Vats Student Expert 10th Feb, 2020

Hi,

Well I would like to inform you that USA does not have MBBS program for medical education. They have MD program in which admission is possible only after completing undergraduate studies with pre medicine track. So you need to first complete your bachelor's and that too with pre medicine track and then apply for MD program by giving the MCAT exam.

I hope my answer helps.

All the best.
