About SAT 2018

The SAT 2018 test is an internationally recognised examination which is conducted by the College Board. This exam is for prospective undergraduate students who want to pursue collegiate education in the United States and other countries. SAT scores are accepted by all colleges and universities in the US, Canada and a number of other countries and these scores test a candidate's readiness for college. The SAT test or otherwise known as the SAT (Reasoning) Test is a general prerequisite for all undergraduate programs in many countries around the world. 

Apart from the SAT test 2018, there are also specialised hour long SAT subject tests which test a candidate's academic ability in particular subjects and are sometimes required for admission to specific undergraduate programs. The various SAT subject tests include:

The College Board does not specify any eligibility requirements for the SAT 2018 exam and candidates do not have to follow any upper or lower age limit guidelines to be eligible to sit for the SAT exam.

  • Generally, high school students in the range of 17-18 years of age take the SAT exam.

  • Candidates who are under 12 years of age can register for the SAT exam by mail only.

  • Candidates above 21 years of age are required to furnish a valid government issued photo ID at the test centre on the day of the exam.

The SAT is administered 7 times a year in the United States and 6 times a year at other international locations in the months of January, March, May, June, October, November and December. In order for a candidate to apply for the SAT 2018 , the given procedure must be followed:

  • The candidate must create an account through the official registration link provided.

  • The candidate must fill in the required details before he or she can apply for an SAT exam.

  • The candidate can select an available centre and a preferred test date for the exam.

  • The candidate must pay the exam fee which differs for the SAT with and without writing. After this, the candidate will be able to access and download the admission ticket required for the test day.

Registration for the SAT 2018 can also be done via mail.

In order to obtain a high score on the SAT 2018 exam, candidates should keep the following points in mind:

  • Understanding the SAT - Candidates should be clear about the format and the types of questions which appear on the SAT 2018.
  • Grasp Concepts - Candidates should ensure that they have a firm knowledge and understanding of the subject areas assessed by the SAT. This can be done through regular study and revision of the topics taught in school.
  • Practice/ Mock Tests - Candidates should solve practice questions and mock tests in a timed environment to gain a semblance of the testing day procedures. Practice will also allow the candidate to pinpoint areas which need further study or preparation.
  • Follow a Schedule - Candidates must maintain a schedule for SAT 2018 preparation to ensure regular study and practice in order to obtain a high SAT score.

The SAT 2018 subject test in Literature is a 60 minute test which comprises approximately 60 questions of multiple choice type. The test is scored on a 200-800 point scale.

The basic topics covered in the SAT Literature test include:

These topics have been divided into three primary time periods for literature:

  • Renaissance Period - 17th Century

SAT 2018 Admit Card

The SAT 2018 admit card or Admission Ticket is available for download via the candidate's registered account. The candidate is required to print the admission ticket and attach a passport sized photograph to the same. The candidate is required to carry the admission ticket on the day of the exam in order to be permitted to sit in the examination hall.

Documents Required at Exam

  • SAT 2018 Hall Ticket/Admission Ticket
  • Valid government issued photo ID - passport

The SAT 2018 result is provided to the candidates approximately 5 weeks after the test day and can be accessed online. These results are also mailed to the candidate.

  • Each SAT Subject Test and each component of the SAT (Reasoning) Test is scored on a 200 - 800 point scale.
  • The overall SAT (reasoning) test scores are evaluated as a sum of the two part scores on a 400 - 1600 scale.

SAT 2018 Scores:

The SAT 2018 scores are represented cumulatively on a scale of 400 - 1600. These scores are a sum of the individual scoring areas:

  • Math Section: The Math section is scored on a 200 - 800 point scale

  • Evidence-based Reading and Writing Section: This includes scores from the Writing and Language section and the Reading section and is scored on a 200 - 800 point scale.

  • SAT Essay: Three scores are provided on a 2-8 point scale.

The total score is the sum of the scores of the compulsory sections. The Essay score is always reported separately from the total score.
