The ECCE full form is the Certificate of Competency in English Examination. The University of Michigan and the Hellenic American Union developed the ECCE exam in 1993. The Michigan Language Assessment Test is a certification exam of knowledge in English and is awarded by the University of Michigan. It is a well-known fact that the University of Michigan is one of the top public universities in the US. The ECCE exam 2025 for the Certificate of Proficiency in English is well-known in Europe and Latin America and has four sections. As per the ECCE exam format, three of the 4 sections are written and one oral section. The Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE exam) is an English language proficiency test conducted for the high intermediate level and certifies Level B2 under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The ECCE exam question paper is updated regularly to ensure that it is on par with current trends in the English language and teaching. The ECCE result is valid for a lifetime.

ECCE 2025 Eligibility

The ECCE exam has no specific eligibility criteria in terms of age or qualification but someone applying for the test must be able to understand the English language. The ECCE exam is given by secondary - adults. Hence, anyone can ECCE exam registration 2025. the ECCE registration fee is starting from EUR 185.

ECCE Exam Syllabus 2025

As mentioned above, the ECCE exam format consists of four parts. The written sections are writing, GVR(grammar, vocabulary and reading) and listening. The oral part is speaking. The listening section of the ECCE exam question paper is conducted either on the test day or before or after it. The total duration of the ECCE exam is 2 hours and 45 minutes. Let us look at each part in more detail.

ECCE writing test: In the ECCE writing test, there is 1 task of 30 minutes. The candidate is given a short extract from a newspaper, memo, or letter as the topic with few instructions and they are expected to write either a letter or essay based on it.

ECCE reading test: The ECCE reading test is for 75 minutes. There will be a total of 65 multiple-choice questions. The first part of the section is the Grammar section containing 15 questions wherein incomplete sentences are given. Then there is the vocabulary section containing 14 questions wherein incomplete sentences are to be completed. Next will be 2 reading passages containing 2 sets each. Reading part 1 has 12 questions whereas reading part 2 has 24 questions.

ECCE speaking test: The speaking test is of fifteen minutes duration where a verbal interaction takes place between the candidate and the examiner. The section also includes visual prompts. There will be 4 parts to this section.

ECCE listening test: The listening test is 45 minutes long and is divided into two parts. The first part consists of 25 multiple-choice questions that are based on short recorded conversations. The answer choices are in the form of pictures. The second part consists of 20 short talks on various topics that are followed by 5 questions.

Application Process for the Michigan Test 2025

Interested applicants can register online through ORFEAS. Individuals can also contact the nearest test centre for any details regarding registration and ECCE exam dates 2025, cost, and availability of dates. The ECCE is offered in the months of May and December.

ECCE Exam Dates 2025

The ECCE exam is conducted twice a year in May and December. Interested candidates can apply for the ECCE exam before the ECCE exam dates 2025. The date for the December exam is yet to be announced. However, the ECCE exam date 2025 for May is 24th May 2025. In addition the registration fee for ECCE starts from EUR 185.

ECCE Test Scores 2025

The ECCE test score considers the scores of the candidate in all four sections to determine if the candidate has passed the exam and will receive an ECCE certificate and you can download the ECCE certificate. To pass the exam, the candidate must get a low pass or a borderline pass. Those who score less than this will not receive a certificate. The ECCE score is reported as five bands as given below from highest to lowest.

ECCE Results 2025

The ECCE exam results will be revealed 2 months after taking the exam. The ECCE exam report will show the candidate’s overall performance and the score for each section. The concerned test centre will notify the results to them. The results are valid for a lifetime. Those who get an average score of 650 or above will be given a Certificate of Competency. Those who have a score of 840 or more in all four sections will get a Certificate of Competency with Honors.
