Founded in 1909, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), boasts of 40 departments, including Earth Sciences, Nano Science and Engineering, Organic Chemistry and Aerospace Engineering, to name a few. The institute was one of the first to introduce integrated PhD programme for science graduates. For foreign nationals- GRE score is optional. Located in one of the most popular and biggest cities in India, Mumbai, IIT Bombay is one of the 23 IITs spread across the country and also one of the top universities in India. Established in 1958, the institute comprises 14 departments spread across Mathematics, Physics and Earth Sciences, among others. The institute enjoys the 219th position in the list of QS World University Rankings.

IIT Kharagpur proudly boasts some of the world renowned alumni including Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Arvind kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, and Arun Sarin, former CEO of Vodafone, to name a few. The list of top universities in India is spearheaded by IITs and here is another IIT jumping into the top universities in India’s list. IIT Delhi is located in the heart of South Delhi. The popular institute was established back in 1963 and it holds a respectable 185 rank among the world’s top universities. It has 13 departments, 11 centres and three schools.

Established in 1974, University of Hyderabad is one of the top universities in India among IITs. The university is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). University of Hyderabad is home to more than 5000 students, 400 faculty members, 46 departments and 12 schools. The university offers approximately 150 programmes ranging across masters to doctoral’s including short-term courses.

AIIMS Delhi has an extension to its Delhi campus in Jhajjar, Haryana. Good news for international students -- not required to sit for the competitive entrance examination.
