Business and Entrepreneurship Programme

Economics and Finance Programme

The two subjects which we can never evade are economics and finance. Yes we may not choose them in our academic pursuits but in our everyday lives we cannot ignore them. For those of you who are interested in studying economics or look forward to making a career in finance, a two-week capsule course in Economics and Finance at Oxford Summer School could be a game changer.

Understanding both economics and finance have great implications on our world. This course at Oxford Summer School is designed specially for 16-17 year olds, to help them examine and understand issues such as international level macroeconomics, microeconomics, success and failure of businesses within a domestic economy, how to study and measure economic performance, markets etc. Overall an immersive course that can give deep insight into the subject.

This course is only offered at London campus, and available class dates are from July 16-29, 2023.

Teaching Methodology

International education is very different from what you have experienced at your school level. While all care is taken about your boarding and meals, at Oxford, you will be expected to be responsible for your own progress. The famous Peter Parker line albeit a bit tweaked is what students must remember, with independence, comes great responsibility. You are a student of a university which is home to numerous international students who are there to experience the Oxford teaching style by renowned tutors. Your tutors for the course will foster self directed learning, encourage critical thinking. All this will be done through seminars and discussions which you have to proactively take part in.

Other than this, each student is expected to write two independent essays which will be evaluated. These will receive feedback from your tutor as well as your classmates. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate and a letter of recommendation by your tutor.

When You Are Not Attending Class

The course is not all study and no play. As promised to give a complete experience of student life, young students will have the opportunity to visit local areas, attend and participate in workshops. Younger group of students can busy themselves with activities such as tie-dyeing, music or even learn circus skills. Older students are exposed to more professional workshops that cover CV writing, public speaking, interview skills etc.
