MA Fashion Business and Marketing is a one year full time or two year part-time course extensively designed by the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology and Salford Business School at University of Salford (England). It is a collaboration between the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology and Salford Business School. The programme is designed for the students who wish to use resources in the field of fashion in a sustainable and ethical way; who want to learn how to use social media and online platforms to successfully promote business or who have been a student or working professional in the field of fashion in the past.
The MA Fashion Business and Marketing course is divided into three semesters in an academic year. The first and second semester consists of two modules of study each while the third semester consists of one module of study. The modules of study include Fashion Industry Insight, Resourcing Your Business, Entrepreneurial Business Simulation, Circular Economy and Responsible Management and Marketing pitch and industry launch. The teaching methods of the programme include seminars and lectures, workshops, group critique, peer presentations, project pitch to industry and peers and tutorials while the assessment is based on portfolio and presentation and written essays/thesis. The weightage of the portfolio and presentation is 80% while the weightage of written essays/thesis is 20%.
The curriculum of the MA Fashion Business and Marketing includes the introduction of the ways in which students can implement new innovative approaches to circular supply chains in their business models and advertise and promote their business. It introduces students to industry models including B2C, B2B, export and wholesale and essentials of funding in startups. It provides guidance on essential areas of business and law. Through the curriculum of this programme, students are equipped with essential business and marketing skills. They get to know about the contemporary fashion industry and commercial fashion practices present internationally and within the UK.
