How to Calculate IELTS Band Scores 2024?

IELTS scores are calculated as band scores on a scale from 1 being the lowest to 9 being the highest. Applicants are awarded a band score from 1 to 9 for each section of the exam– Listening, Reading, Writing, and IELTS Speaking. The overall IELTS 2024 band score is calculated as an average of all four band scores for individual test sections.

Listening and Reading: The IELTS Listening and IELTS Reading section contains 40 questions. Each correct answer is awarded one mark, hence the maximum raw score one can achieve is 40. A band score ranging from band 1 to band 9 is then awarded based on the applicant’s raw score.

Is 7-band a good score in IELTS?

Yes, a 7-band score is a good score in IELTS for study-abroad aspirants. Test takers who get a 7-band score are considered to have a good command of the English language. IELTS Test Report Form 2024 (TRF)

The IELTS TRF full form is the Test Report form. Candidates who have appeared for the IELTS exam can also be awarded half-band scores indicating strong performance within a specific band. One copy of the test report form is provided to each candidate and this should be kept safe.

Candidates receive a Test Report Form (TRF) that includes a score for each of the skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) and an overall IELTS band score. Keep a copy of the Test Report Form as you won't receive it again. Test takers receive a TRF via Speed Post or courier. Test takers get the tracking number via SMS once it is out for delivery and it can take up to 10 days to get the scores from the result declaration date.

IELTS Test Report Forms for Institutions

Five universities listed by the candidate in their IELTS registration form will receive copies of TRF. There are no extra charges levied for sending the IELTS IDP result 2024 to these five colleges or universities. Candidates can pay and request for additional IELTS results downloads (TRFs) to be sent to the university or institutes anytime within two years.

How to send IELTS Exam results to universities?

Candidates are permitted to send IELTS score cards electronically to five universities of their choice, without any additional cost. Candidates can choose the universities at the time of registration. The majority of English-speaking countries accept IELTS results for giving visas to students, however, the minimum requirement differs from country to country.

How to Send IELTS Scores to Universities Abroad?

When doing IELTS registration, test takers are given the option to choose up to five universities of their choice to send their IELTS 2024 exam result.
They will be required to fill in the details of their preferred universities for IDP IELTS India to send their IELTS scores.
Once the IELTS result 2024 is out, IDP India will send the applicant’s scores to the chosen universities.
Candidates can also opt to send hard copies of their IELTS 2024 results to more than 5 institutes by paying an additional fee as specified by the authorities.
To send their IDP IELTS result TRF via courier to international destinations, candidates also need to pay the courier charges.

IELTS One Skill Retake

Candidates who are not satisfied with their IELTS 2024 exam result can apply for IELTS OSR (One Skill Retake) to improve their performance. Through OSR, students can attempt a retake option for one of the four sections; Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. Students can book their preferred test centres by paying the IELTS exam fee of Rs. 17000. Students applying to retake the IELTS exam 2024 can use their previous test experience to improve their results for abroad admission.

Candidates willing to retake the IELTS 2024 exam must fulfill the following requirements:

Candidates must have completed a full test at a centre that offers IELTS One Skill Retake.
The candidate’s full test was an IELTS on a computer test.
Students must apply for their IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of their full IELTS test.
