Ternopil National Medical University was established in 1957. It is the leading Higher Medical Education Institution under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Since its establishment, the University has trained more than 25,000 specialists in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, which are presently serving Ukraine and several other countries. I.YA. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University offers Medical Education to its students in English and Ukrainian language. The duration and fees of the courses vary accordingly. The Preparatory Department of the University is also a part of the Faculty of International Students. It is a 10-month Preparatory Program that provides Ukrainian or Russian language courses, as well as chemistry, informatics, mathematics, physics and biology upgrading courses.
After successful completion of the preparatory program, students can continue their studies at the University, or they can go to any other university in Ukraine and apply for any Medical or non-Medical Program. The Preparatory Course is a must for those students who are going to pursue their Medical Education in the Ukrainian language. It is not for the students applying for programs/courses in the English language.
The courses or Degree Programs offered at the University include, the General Medicine (MD – Medical Doctor Degree, equivalent to MBBS) Program and the duration of the program is 6 years. PG Program in Public Health with a program duration of 2 years. Dentistry Program which is equivalent to Doctor of Dental Medicine, DMD and the duration of the program is 5 years. Bachelor and Master Degree Program in Nursing (BSN – Bachelor of Science in Nursing; MSN – Master of Science in Nursing) and the duration of the Bachelor Program is 4 years and the Master Program is 2 years.

The admission process of I. YA. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University is briefly explained in the following steps:
Students applying for admission at I. YA. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University are required to give an Entrance Examination.
The Entrance Examination of the University will be conducted in the subjects of Biology and in any one of the languages of instruction(English/Ukrainian).
The students are required to inform the dean’s office of international students of TNMU at deans_office@tdmu.edu.ua, about how students wish to take the Entrance Examination either in written form or remotely using computer technology.

After receiving the above-mentioned documents, the University will send the detailed instructions to the applicant. The applicant must follow these instructions and an Official Invitation Letter for studying at I. YA. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University will be sent to the applicant’s address.
The Invitation Letter should be submitted to the Embassy of Ukraine in the applicant’s country of residence to receive a student visa.

The eligibility criteria to get admission in the Medical Program at I. YA. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University is as follows:

The University Housing Division is designed for the compact residence of international students. The residence is provided to interns, masters’ degree students, resident physicians, PhD students, students of the Preparatory Department and Faculty of Postgraduate Education during university studies, as well as applicants for the period of admission tests.
The structural unit of the University comprises dormitories No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and their respective surroundings. The students of the International Students Faculty live in dormitories No. 1, 2.
The dormitory No.1 has the following features:
206 rooms and can accommodate approximately 507 students.
2 living sectors on each floor.
In each sector, there are 3 suites, a common room, a kitchen and a utility room.
The suite contains 2 double occupancy rooms and 2 quadruple occupancy rooms.
The dormitory is well-furnished.

The cost of double occupancy rooms is $50.
The dormitory No.2 has the following features:
224 rooms and can accommodate approximately 549 students.
