The M.Phil in Environmental Change and Management is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the main processes of environmental change and the individuals and organizations involved in environmental management. The program aims to develop environmental leaders who possess interdisciplinary and analytical skills in addressing environmental issues, as well as the ability to make informed and responsible decisions.
The M.Phil program is a two-year course. The second year is dedicated to conducting research and writing a thesis, which can be either a single monograph or two academic papers. During the first year, students will complete the coursework required for the M.Sc in Environmental Change and Management. This course has three primary objectives, which are to:
- analyze the characteristics, origins, and consequences of significant forms of environmental transformation. How do these transformations function and influence each other on a worldwide, regional, and local level? How do they correspond to crucial social and ecological systems?
- analyze the economic, legal, cultural, and ethical foundations of environmental responsibility and systemic approaches. This includes strategies such as mitigation, adaptation, remediation, enhanced resource stewardship, and other sustainable responses to environmental change. These approaches should be considered at various levels and within diverse organizational settings.
- enable individuals who are passionate about the environment to become effective leaders in addressing the most urgent environmental challenges by providing comprehensive training in essential analytical and practical skills, as well as fostering a deep understanding of the interconnections between earth systems, societies, and environmental change.
The mentioned objectives of this program are evaluated based on three main themes:
- Methods and Techniques for Environmental Management,

These themes are covered in a total of eight modules, which include:
