About London College of Fashion

London College of Fashion (LCF) is part of the University of the Arts, London (UAL) which offers undergraduate, postgraduate, pre-degree, research and short courses in the areas of fashion, make-up, beauty therapy and lifestyle. It was earlier established as Leather Trade School in 1877 which later got changed to Shoreditch Technical Institute Girls School, Barrett Street Trade School and Clapham Trade School. London College of Fashion was introduced in 1974 which became a part of the London Institute in 1986 which is run by the Inner London Education Authority.

London College of Fashion Overview

  • LCF has three schools associated with which offers various programmes related to design and fashion including Fashion Business School, School of Media and Communication and School of Design and Technology.
  • London College of Fashion has formed partnerships with several prestigious names such as IBM, Kering and Microsoft to promote fashion in an organic way.
  • Apart from the University of the Arts London, LCF also works as the constituent college for other colleges like Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Camberwell College of Arts, London College of Communication and Wimbledon College of Art and Chelsea College of Art and Design.
  • LCF East Education also works with local colleges and schools, education and cultural partners to promote creative fashion, arts, design and sustainability among young people.

London College of Fashion Admission and Application

  • Candidates interested in getting admissions need to apply on the website of the university.
  • Application forms will be available online and students need to register first for applying.
  • After downloading the application forms, students have to attach all the requisite documents and pay the application fee before submitting their application forms.
  • Students also need to submit a portfolio of their work and their application forms will be accepted based on their quality of work.
  • The administration will review the application forms based on various eligibility criteria.
  • London College of Fashion admissions will be offered after document verification and admission fee payment.

London College of Fashion Eligibility

  • International students must have English as their first language or else they need to submit their marks for any of the following English language tests such as the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) or PTE Academic or Cambridge Proficiency (CPE) or Cambridge Advanced (CAE) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Trinity ISE.
  • Scores of the English language test submitted must be less than two years old.
  • Students applying for bachelor programmes need to complete secondary school education and for master programmes, applicants must complete their bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline from any recognised university or institute.
  • Other additional documents include professional references, a personal statement.
  • Students also need to have creative skills and knowledge about design.

Library

The library of London College of Fashion has a huge collection of 85,000 books covering all areas of the fashion industry from garment construction to cosmetic science and other informative resources including DVDs and videos and more than 390 printed periodicals and 20,000 e-journals. Students can also access the e-resources via e-library. Visitors who wish to visit the library need to book their appointments beforehand.
