Siberian State Medical University was established in 1878 and is one of the prestigious medical institutions in Russia. Siberian State Medical University became Russia's first medical university to be authorised by the Skolkovo Technology Park in 2015.

The Siberian State Medical University Scientific Medical Library is the only public medical library in the Tomsk Region. It is also Siberia's largest specialised library.
