The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is a public research university which was established in 1760. The main campus is located in Trondheim and the other two campuses are located in Gjøvik and Ålesund. The institute mainly specializes in technology and the natural sciences. Apart from science and technology, NTNU also offers various bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes in humanities, economics, medicine, social sciences, health sciences, architecture, educational sciences, entrepreneurship and aesthetic disciplines. NTNU Trondheim has various libraries associated with it which include Architecture and Civil Engineering Library, Medicine and Health Library, Dragvoll Library, Natural Science Library, Economics and Management Library, Tungasletta Library, Fine Art Library, Dora Library, Lysholm Library, Gunnerus Library, Marine Technology Library, Music Library, and Technology Library.
NTNU University Library was established in 1996 after the establishment of NTNU. NTNU’s library is considered as the oldest scientific library in Norway with 15 branch libraries in Trondheim, Ålesund and Gjøvik. The main objective of the library is to meet the academic, research and teaching requirements of students and teachers. Students can also borrow anything from the library which is free of charge for a duration of four weeks generally. Students need to have an ID card and must get their registration done at the library before borrowing any book or study material. Other additional services like copying and printing are also available free of cost for all the students and employees.
