About University of Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam (UVA) was initially founded as the Athenaeum Illustre on 8 January 1632. Later, it was given recognition as an institution of higher education and received the status of the University of Amsterdam. UVA soon gained the status of the second-largest university in the Netherlands in the academic year 1950-1951 with 7100 students. The University now offers education to over 34,000 students and has more than 3,000 Ph.D. researchers, 6,000 staff, and over a hundred different nationalities.

University of Amsterdam Admission and Application

  • Students applying for University of Amsterdam admissions need to fill the application forms online on the official website of the university.
  • Application forms have to be submitted along with required documents and payment of fees.
  • Students also have to attend and qualify for an interview conducted by the university.
  • Applicants after completing all the procedures will be given University of Amsterdam admissions after document verification and fees payment.

University of Amsterdam Eligibility

  • Students need to submit documents like transcripts, a personal statement, and a CV.
  • Candidates applying for UVA graduate programmes need to complete their bachelor’s degree and secure qualifying marks in any relevant discipline.
  • Students applying to University of Amsterdam undergraduate programmes need to complete their high school education from an accredited board.
  • Students must mandatorily be able to read, write and speak English and these students need to submit proof of any sufficient proficiency in English (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): level C1).
  • Candidates who are not proficient in English must have secured qualifying scores in any of the English proficiency tests like the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) or Cambridge C1 Advanced.
