Band 8+ Sample Answer For Writing Task 1: Flow Chart question

This flowchart describes in detail the various processes that occur during attaining admission into the desired high school.

The first and mandatory step is Obtaining high school. After that, each student is asked to complete the university entrance application form that can be downloaded from the official website of the high school. The form must be completed by the student and submitted to the administration office.

The administration office is responsible for granting the admission to the students. It might take up to two weeks for a student to get a reply from the administration office. It can be one among an acceptance, provisional acceptance or a rejection. In case the student is rejected, they can either cancel their admission or apply for an alternate course by reapplying to the administration office.

In case a student is provisionally accepted, this means that more documentation is needed. This must be done by the student and sent to the administration office. If a student receives an acceptance from the office, they would have to complete the enrolment form followed by selecting the subjects they wish to study and registering the same with the dean. After all these formalities are completed, the student is permitted to join the university.

NOTE

The above-mentioned question type falls under the category of flow chart questions within the data interpretation task. These questions are seen in past IELTS examinations. Despite being classified as a moderate question, proficiency in addressing this type of question requires dedicated IELTS writing practice. Band 8+ Sample Answer For Writing Task 2: Solutions-based Essay

It is undeniable that traffic is becoming a bigger problem for cities all around the world. To lower the amount of traffic in our cities, I look at the causes of this trend in this essay and offer a few feasible options that the government may put into place.

Understanding the reasons behind the rise in traffic in towns and cities is the first step. There are essentially three basic causes for this. One is that cars are now more reasonably priced for the typical customer and are expected to be owned by most families rather than luxury items. A second factor is that the reliability of public transportation has declined recently, in part due to the reduction of several bus and train services due to financial difficulties. The third factor is that more people are willing than ever to drive themselves to work as society as a whole has become more mobile.

Given the complex nature of its reasons, there is most likely no one solution to this issue. To encourage people to take the bus or train rather than drive a car, and increase the dependability of public transportation. Another way to discourage people from driving to work would be to charge extra for using the roads, particularly during rush hours. The London congestion charge program is one effective example of this, as it has undoubtedly decreased traffic in inner-city regions.

In conclusion, a number of reasons have contributed to increased traffic in metropolitan areas. Finding a perfect answer might not be feasible, but any action that is taken should most likely focus on raising the usage of public transportation and raising the cost of driving in cities.
