For MTech (or MSc or MEngg as it is more widely known as in other countries), you will need to give the GRE General exam. You will also need to give an English language proficiency test (IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic).

The GRE General exam has multiple choice type questions divided into two categories:

• Verbal Reasoning
• Quantitative Reasoning

There is also a writing section which is scored separately and is known as Analytical Writing Analysis. In this section, you will need to write two essays which will be scored on a 0-6 point scale.
