I am a fresher engineering graduate applied for BITSOM addmission on the basis of my CAT score and declared waitlisted after PI. I have a good GRE score also which I did not mentioned anywhere in my previous addmission application. Can I apply again on the basis of my GRE score.

snigdha vig 6th May, 2021

Hi,

Since you mentioned that you are waitlisted, it is better to wait for the final results or further updates. Along with that you can apply to other universities for the same. Applying for the same thing again can get your application rejected due to double application. Also, GRE score is just for admission in Universities or colleges outside India. It is advisable to wait for the next update and stick to the qualifications that are required. Adding excess and irrelevant details in any application is not always beneficial.

I hope this helped you.

All the Best!

for masters in us show me top ivy universities with gre score

darshita 28th Mar, 2021

Hello,

The GRE scores would differ depending upon the school you choose. Again, within a particular university / school, it would vary depending upon the field you select.

Some universities that accept GRE score that too average ones are :

  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
  • Harvard
  • Stanford
  • University of California Berkeley
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • Princeton university
  • Yale university
  • University of South California
  • UCLA university
  • Cornell university

Now haven't told me your respective field so kindly let me know.

The GRE verbal and quantitative sections are scored on a scale of 130-170 in one-point increment in each of the two sections.

You can score anywhere from 130 to 170 which means that the number of possible scores that can be obtained are limited to just 41.

Some programs like engineering put greater emphasis on the quantitative score whereas there’s lesser focus on the verbal score. So,if you are  aiming for a top engineering college need to come up with a competitive quantitative score while you may work on getting a good verbal score as well.

The reverse is true for fields like psychology, arts and humanities where you’d need to have a good verbal score.

Hope this helps!!!!

If somone who has 2 years gap between 12th and BE tries to applies for masters in USA,Is it mandatory to mention the reason behind the gap years or the good CGPA in UG,GRE marks and every other documents which are required which are quit impressive will suffice?

U. Janani 29th Jan, 2021

Hi Shreyas!

Yes, you need to justify your year gap during VISA Verification! Usually 1 year of gap will be allowed but when it exceeds it, then you will be asked for proper reasons. You have to show proof for your reasons like if you had any sickness you must show them your medical certificate stating you suffered from so and so. If you were working somewhere, then the proof for that. Whatever the reason is, have a proof in handy so you can provide it when asked!

Hope this is helpful!

All the best!
