We can recommend few books for you instead of one book:

SAT Prep Black Book 2nd Edition

McGraw Hill Education

Barron's SAT 29th Edition

But if we have to name one book for you, it will be Kallis SAT Preparation Strategy. This is because Kallis SAT Preparation Strategy is one of the best books for Overall Preparation for SAT. This book also gives analytic approach to various questions to help you with a strategic approach. This book follows the structure, format and topics covered on the SAT in detail and so you will have a fair idea of logistics before the D-day.

As a 11th standard student which is better SAT or IIT

Anurag Khanna 22nd Jun, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

Obviously IIT is much better option if you want to pursue your higher education in India otherwise SAT.

SAT examination is given for admission into various graduation courses into United States. You need to go for JEE-Main and JEE-Advance examinations to get into IITs. Both have a different life and as far as Indian Education is concerned, being a part of IIT is already a very big achievement and you get some great job placements and opportunities after being a part of IIT.

How to prepare for SAT as a 10th class student ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 22nd Jun, 2020

SAT is of Reasoning Paper and also Subject paper. The subject paper depends on the subject you want to take up the admission in your Undergraduate programme abroad. SAT exam is for 3 hours and an additional 50 minutes if you also have opted for an essay. Or else it is going to be Mathematics section and Evidence Based Reading and Writing. The higher the SAT score, better are the chances for top Colleges of the US. Because this is a pen and paper mode exam, you have to be real careful. You cannot back to one section and cannot swap between sections. Let's say if you have finished Math section earlier than the allotted time, you cannot move to the next section. And if the time allotted is for Math section, you cannot go to Reading and Writing section.

Maths is divided in to 2 sets of questions where in one can be attempted using a calculator and the other without a calculator. The one with calculator has 20 questions for 25 minutes and the set with calculator has 38 questions with a time limit of 55 minutes. The Evidenced based reading test has 52 questions with a time limit of 65 minutes minimum and Writing and Language test has 44 questions with a minimum time limit of 35 minutes.

For Maths session, a set of formulae and references are provided at the beginning of the test and the questions come from Heart of Algebra, Problem Solving and Data Analysis and Passport to Advance Math. You may also have to practise topics like Area and Volume, Coordinate Geometry and Basic Trigonometry.

Under Reading Test, one literary passage from American or International work of fiction like short stories or novels. One passage from US Founding documents or Great Global Conversation covering topics like freedom, justice and human dignity. Other topics might be on Economics, Psychology, Sociology, etc. 2 passages might be from Work of science. The questions asked in this section are Information and Ideas, Rhetoric and Synthesis and we have to draw conclusions and make connections between the passages.

Under Writing and Language test, topics explored are career, science, humanities, history and social science. Please practise as many as sample papers you can.

Are the marks of both SAT and TOEFL/IELTS required to take admission abroad in Bsc of physics? And if both are required then what should be their respective scores to get a cinfirm admission in an institue? What minimum marks are required to get admission in top institutes abroad?

Shivang Dubey 19th Jun, 2020

Hey Hrushikesh

For getting admission in Bachelors of Science (BS) Physics major, one need to follow the given steps:

  • You need to apply for SAT and qualify
  • You also need to qualify TOEFL/IELTS as they are language proficiency test which clears that the candidate can understand the Foreign language
  • Apply to particular colleges you wish

For SAT an ideal score to be eligible for US colleges would be more than 1570. And for TOEFL your score should lie between 90-100 for higher chances of selection. Rest depends upon your Profile and SOP.

Fir further doubts, ask us.
