RGU to establish International Institute for Oil and Gas
The Robert Gordon University (RGU) situated in Aberdeen, Scotland, is establishing an International Institute for Oil and Gas. The new institute will be established as part of the university’s strategy to build on its achievements in the oil and gas sector and to enhance its reputation as a global leader in oil and gas-related training and high value research directly relevant to the sector.
As a part of its new Oil and Gas Strategy, Robert Gordon University (RGU) will invest £8 million over five years to deliver the International Institute for Oil and Gas. The university will engage experts in the oil and gas sector from across the world. The specific areas of focus of the new strategy of the Robert Gordon University (RGU) will be:
- Brownfield development through enhanced oil recovery, asset integrity, subsea engineering and decommissioning
- Unconventional oil and gas
- Industry collaboration
- Oil and gas finance and economics
- Applied offshore healthcare
The Wood Family Trust has announced a donation of £500,000 towards the new International Institute for Oil and Gas being established by RGU. The institute will provide an important focus for the sector as a whole. The key areas of expertise for the International Institute for Oil and Gas will be:
- Regional hub development
- Production efficiency
- Improved and enhanced oil recovery
- Decommissioning at a critical time in the development of the North Sea
