La Trobe University, Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Presidency College, Bangalore to initiate joint courses in both the institutions. As a result of the collaboration, students of Presidency College, Bangalore can study a portion of their programme at the college and the remaining part at La Trobe University, Australia.
The students, who will pursue the La Trobe-Presidency joint course, will get the final degree from La Trobe University, Australia. The MoU aims at welcoming more Indian students to La Trobe University and building strong research collaborations with Indian institutions. Currently the programme structure is for a 1+2 years course, where students will study a year at Presidency and 2 years at La Trobe. Among various other benefits, the major plus point of the programme is reduction of the financial burden of the students wishing to study in Australia.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Professor John Rosenberg, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President, La Trobe University, Dr Muddu Vinay, Principal and Director of Presidency College, and Mr Nissar Ahmed, Chairman of Presidency College, Bangalore University. La Trobe University also has connections with Lady Shri Ram College for Women Delhi, IIT Chennai, Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune, SRM Chennai and Delhi Technological University.
