Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2016 - Applications are open to Joint Japan World Bank Graduate (JJ/WBG) Scholarship Program 2016-2017, which offers need-based scholarships to international applicants from developing countries, for admission into Master’s studies granted “preferred” or “partner” status by the JJ/WBG Scholarship Program. 

Awarding Institute / Body: The World Bank administers the Program through the Leadership, Learning, and Innovation (LLI). Policy guidance for the Program is managed by a Steering Committee made up of three Executive Directors and five managers of the Bank.

Field of study: The scholarship program is only meant for programs included on the Scholarship program website. Some of the programs covered under the program include:

  • Master of Economics

  • Master's in Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM)

  • MS in Global Health Policy and Management

  • Master of Science in Social Work

Eligibility: To apply for JJ/WBG Scholarship Program 2016, candidates must be:

  • A national belonging to a developing country

  • Not hold dual citizenship

  • Have completed bachelor’s degree (or equivalent university degree) earned before 2013

  • Under 45 years of age on the application deadline date

  • Ready to return to your native country upon completion of your degree in order to use you newly acquired knowledge and skills for the benefit of your country, region, or community.

Value of Fellowship: Important benefits covered under the scholarship program include:

  • Economy class tickets to and from your home country and the host university. In addition, scholars of developing country will be granted $500 travel allowance for every trip.

  • Tuition fee and basic insurance cover mandated by the university

  • A monthly allowance that will cover your living expenses, including buying books.

Application deadline:  The deadline for JJ/WBGSP scholarship applications for the academic year 2016-17 is March 10, 2016, 12 noon EST.
