As a solution for the problem faced by a large number of Indian students of PG courses in UK, the ministry of Human Resource Development has introduced a Bridge Course. The newly proposed India-UK Bridge Course will resolve the bottleneck over India not recognizing one year postgraduate (PG) course from the United Kingdom.
As the format for PG programmes in India is of a two-year module, the one-year PG courses done by students at Universities in UK were not recognized in India. This was a major impasse for a lot of students. But now, the six-month Bridge Course will solve this issue and make Indian PG students at UK universities eligible for MPhil or direct PhD programmes in India. However, the India-UK Bridge Course is only for students having done post-graduation in humanities. Seven Indian universities have been shortlisted for the Bridge Course. They are:
The Human Resource Development ministry has also found a way out to recognize one-year management course done in the UK. In order to make their education recognized in India, one-year management students from UK need to do a six-month internship in an Indian company.
