TOEFL Syllabus 2018: ETS®, the TOEFL® conducting body prescribes four modules/sections in the TOEFL syllabus 2018, namely, Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. Although there is no specific TOEFL 2018 syllabus, the pattern of the test is quite specific. The test takers are required to combine his/her language skills in all the sections while appearing for the TOEFL exam. All the sections are conducted on the same day with a 10 minutes break. Candidates are assessed on their capability to ingrate the mentioned skill-sets. As per the TOEFL syllabus 2018, a candidate is required to perform the following tasks-

Reading section description-

Reading: This section involves reading three or four passages from academic texts and answering questions. Candidates can practice reading passages from books or papers to prepare for this module. The passages in the test can be derived from anywhere. In this section of TOEFL 2018, only reading ability of the candidate is checked.
Listening section description-

Listening: This section requires a candidate to listen to academic lectures, classroom discussions and conversations; then answering questions related to the topic. The test takers need to be alert and active in this section of the exam as they will be later asked questions from the sessions. It is advisable that students take notes while listening to the lectures and discussions.

The total duration of Speaking module is 20 minutes.

Speaking: According to the syllabus of TOEFL 2018, in this section, test takers have to express an opinion on a familiar topic. They will have to speak based on the Reading and Listening tasks. This section evaluates a candidate's ability to comprehend information. Basically, one needs to explain what he/she has read.
