NRI Quota in Top Engineering Colleges in Rajasthan – Non-resident Indian (NRI) students and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries(CIWG) aspiring to study in top engineering colleges in Rajasthan can apply under NRI and CIWG quota. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has allowed top engineering colleges in Rajasthan to reserve at most 5% of the total seats under NRI quota. There are 126 AICTE approved institutes in Rajasthan offering 4-year Bachelors in various branches like Civil, Mechanical, Computer, Biotechnology, Food technology etc. The seats reserved for each branch is different in each of the top engineering colleges in Rajasthan. Engineering admission for NRI students is open in 8 seats reserved under NRI quota. The college is affiliated to Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, which awards the degree to students after completion of the course.
Candidates seeking admission under NRI quota are not required to appear for the Joint Entrance Test (JET) but must fulfill the eligibility criteria. Admission to top engineering colleges in Rajasthan is based on merit i.e. marks scored by the candidate in the qualifying examination. Candidates who have given qualifying examination from a board unrecognised by the university must furnish an Equivalence Certificate obtained from Association of Indian Universitites.
Foreign Students seeking admission under FN/CIWG quota are generally admitted under the category of Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) nominee or through a bilateral arrangement with the university. No self-financing foreign students are given admission; student must be supported either by the government of India, international organisation, their respective government or ICAR.
ICAR sponsored candidates seeking admission under NRI quota are required to obtain the admission form on payment of 100 INR. The completed form must be submitted to the Dean along with 30 INR intended for covering the application fee. All original certificates must be submitted along with the application form, which will be verified by the office of the concerned university. Foreign students sponsored through ICAR are required to pay an institutional economic fee of 200 USD per month or 2000 USD per year in addition to the normal fee charged by the college. Before seeking admission under CIWG quota, a foreign student must have a valid passport and visa. It is important for foreign students to register with Foreign Students Advisor of the University and the police within a fortnight of their arrival on campus. All foreign students must get themselves medically checked by the nearest Civil Surgeon or Supdt. of District Medical hospital at their own expense for admission under CIWG quota. This Medical certificate must be submitted to the college before admission under CIWG quota. All foreign students returning from abroad must get themselves screened for AIDS from an authorised medical office and submit the screening certificate at the admission process. Student found unfit due to any disease other than AIDS shall be declared temporarily unfit subject to university regulations. A student seeking admission under CIWG quota, if found to be positive for AIDS, must return to his/her country.
NRI Quota: Eligibility Criteria for Rajasthan Engineering Colleges
Student must fulfill the eligibility criteria to be considered for admission under NRI quota:
Student must be a Non-Resident Indian or have his/her parents accorded the status of NRI by the government of India. Non-resident Indian shall have the same meaning as assigned to it in clause(e) of section 115C of the Income tax act, 1961. An individual is non-resident for income tax purpose when he/she is not a resident or ordinarily resident in India. A person is treated as ordinarily resident when any of the following conditions are satisfied:
If he/she has not been a resident of India in nine out of ten preceding years or
If he/she has not been in India for a period of 730 days or more during the preceding seven years.
Or Non-resident Indians are people of Indian birth or descent who live outside of the Republic of India, permanently or temporarily due to any of the below reasons:
Taking up employment outside India or
Running a business or carrying a vocation outside India or
Any other purpose which would indicate his/her intention to stay outside India for an uncertain period
Student must have given his/her qualifying examination after 12 years of study and have Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology as subjects along with achieving a passing grade in all these subjects.
NRI Quota: Documents Required for Rajasthan Engineering Colleges
NRI admissions to top engineering colleges in Rajasthan are directly offered on first come first serve basis. Following documents must be submitted to be considered for admission under NRI quota:

For applying under FN/PIO/CIWG quota, the student must either be a Foreign National or Person of Indian origin or Overseas Citizenship of India card holder or Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries.
“Foreign National” means the Citizen of Countries other than India who is not of Indian origin as defined under OCI/ PIO.
Person of Indian Origin (PIO) - is a citizen of any country other than Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal or Pakistan, if he at any time held an Indian passport, or he or either of his parents or spouse were citizens of India by virtue of the Constitution.
Overseas Citizenship of India - is a pseudo-citizenship scheme established because the constitution of India does not permit full dual citizenship. An OCI card, which is a long-term visa with restrictions on voting rights and government jobs, acts as the proof of OCI and is available to certain PIOs.
CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. CIWGC is a scheme generated by the Ministry of India for the children of Indian expatriates in Gulf countries looking for admissions in India.

In case of applying under FN quota, passport of a country other than India is required. Students are also advised to apply for the visa immediately after acceptance to the university. Students must also submit a Medical Fitness Certificate along with a negative diagnosis of AIDS disease.
In case of PIO or OCI, OCI card holder or necessary documents to prove status
Students who fall under the CIWG scheme are required to submit proof showing either parent working in a gulf country, which has to be duly signed by the employer of the parent. A copy of passport, visa and work permit (in case any) of the child’s parent in Gulf are also required to be submitted as proof.
