NRI Quota in Top Engineering colleges in DelhiNRI Quota in Top Engineering colleges in Delhi - There are six engineering colleges in Delhi which offer seats to Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Engineering aspirants. As mandated by the AICTE, these colleges have a number of sanctioned seats which are offered to NRI/FN/PIO/CIWG aspirants. Along with the NRI’s, these institutions also offer admissions to Foreign Nationals (FN), PIO (People of Indian Origin), as well as Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries (CIWG). All the 6 institutions in total offer seats to as many as 164 candidates under the NRI quota and 225 candidates under the FN/PIO/CIWG quota.

A total of 5% of the sanctioned seats are offered to the NRI aspirants and as many as fifteen percent of sanctioned/approved intake as supernumerary seats are available for Person of Indian Origin (PIO); Foriegn National (FN); Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWG).

 

A few of the institutions in Delhi accept NRI/FN/PIO/CIWG aspirants under the DASA scheme. These are Delhi Technological University, Netaji Subhas Institute Of Technology, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, and NIT Delhi. Eligibility conditions to these include a SAT score along with the other mandatory criteria for NRI/FN/PIO/CIWG category.

The fee structure for these categories are comparatively higher than the one charged from the resident Indian candidates.

 

The six engineering colleges offer 4 year Bachelors degree in a number of streams like Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Production And Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering and many more with number of seats reserved for each course and the category.

NRI quota in Enginering Colleges: Jamila Millia Islamia

Jamia Milia Islamia currently has approximately 301 foreign nationals from 36 countries from around the world. Jamia Milia Islamia offers admissions to NRI/ FN/CIWG/PIO aspirants under two schemes; ICCR sponsored and foreign students and NRIs under supernumerary category. The ICCR candidates are sponsored by the Indian government under a number of scholarship schemes by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the foreign students and NRI’s under supernumerary category accepts aspirants who do not want to appear for the entrance test and the interview but have qualified the eligibility conditions or equivalent. Admissions are offered on the basis of merit list prepared by Jamia on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination. Aspirants are required to send their applications in the prescribed format available on the university website. As many as 15% seats may be available over and above over and above the regular seats. As many as 5% of the earmarked for foreign nationals shall be available for NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) and their family (spouses and children).

  • Foreign Passport Holder (FPH)
    Has a valid foreign passport
    Has a valid visa issued by a competent authority of the Indian Government clearly mentioning the reasons of stay in the country.
  • Non-Resident Indian (NRI)
    NRI is defined as per the Income Tax Law of India. Jamia Milia Islamia does not accept NRI sponsored candidates.

Admission Guidelines and Rules

  1. Minimum eligibility qualifications for foreign aspirants is same as for the Indian aspirants for all programmes.

  2. The university/institution from which the aspirant has cleared the qualifying exam should be included in the list of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) http://www.aiuweb.org

  3. If the institution is not in the list, the aspirant has to obtain and submit an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.

  4. All transcripts, if not in English, are required to be translated in English, attested and submitted

  5. Applicants applying from their country of residence should get their transcripts attested by the accredited authorized government agency as well as get them certified by the Indian Embassy or Consulate.

NRI quota in Enginering Colleges: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi

As many as 15% seats over the approved intake are allowed under the PIHEAD (Promotion of Indian Higher Education Abroad) programme of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development for NRI/ FN/CIWG/PIO aspirants on supernumerary basis.

 

Definitions

  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO): Citizens of countries other than India, except Pakistan and Bangladesh, who themselves or their parents or any grandparent were a citizen of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India or Sec 2(b) of Citizenship Act, 1955 (Act No. 57 of 1955).

  • Foreign Nationals: Foreign nationals are not of Indian Origin as defined under PIO above.

  • Foreign Student: Foreign student are students who have a foreign passport.

Age Eligibility

For Applicants of undergraduate programmes, where the academic qualification is Class 12, the maximum age should not be over 21 years as on 1st August.

 

Admission procedure

  • Aspirants should download the application form from the website and send the filled form with all the required enclosures to Room No. 306, D-Block, GGSIP University. A scanned copy of the filled in form along with enclosures should be mailed to [email protected]

  • Different courses have different eligibility criteria. Aspirants should check their eligibility criteria before applying.

  • Application submission deadline is June 30, 2018. The aspirants should ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria before the deadline.

  • International aspirants applying under foreign quota are required to prove their English proficiency through TOEFL or IELTS scores. Eligibility score for TOEFL is 60 or IELTS - Band 5

NRI quota in Enginering Colleges: Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA)

International student admissions to Delhi Technological University, Netaji Subhas Institute Of Technology, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, and NIT Delhi are done through Direct Admissions for Study Abroad.

Aspirants are required to send in their SAT scores for admission through DASA.
