NRI Quota in Private Medical Colleges in Odisha – Odisha has a total of 12 medical colleges which offer as many as 1550 seats to MBBS aspirants. As many as 8 of the 12 are government college which accepts only Indian aspirants. Out of the 4 private, KIIT is a deemed to be University and admission to the institution is through Medical Counselling Committee. As many as two private medical colleges offer admission MBBS programme to NRI candidates. Out of the 250 seats in the two medical colleges, as many as 35 are available for admission to NRI aspirants interested to take admission in the MBBS programme. The Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Odisha takes care of the counselling as well as the allotment of colleges to the students. The private medical colleges in Odisha are affiliated to Utkal University.
Admission to MBBS under NRI quota is based on merit scored in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). NEET-UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET-UG is scheduled to be held on May 5, 2019. Aspirants are offered a seat based on their NEET ranks. The MBBS course fee for aspirants interested to take admission under the NRI quota is four times that of resident candidates at private medical colleges in Odisha. This fee structure Hostel fee charged from NRI aspirants are however approximately the same.
NRI means the children or wards of a person of Indian origin residing outside India. Such candidates have to submit the following documents in support of NRI.
Eligibility Criteria for NRI Students for MBBS Admission
The eligibility criteria for NRI aspirants to private medical colleges in Odisha is the same as that for the resident aspirants. Non-Resident Indian aspirants who have qualified the NEET UG 2019, are eligible to pursue MBBS. The candidate should be at least 17 years of age.
