NRI Quota in Medical Colleges in Kerala - Non resident Indian who wish to apply for admissions to the private medical colleges in Kerala should apply for the seats under NRI quota. The private medical colleges for NRI in Kerala listed in this article are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The medical colleges in Kerala are affiliated to a number of universities. They are Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University (Deemed), Coimbatore and Calicut University. In Kerala, the Commissioner of Entrance Exams (CEE), set up in 1983, conducts an entrance examination for admission to professional courses.
The Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examinations (KEAM) is the major section of CREE takes care of Agriculture, Engineering and Medical Entrance test in which approximately two lakh candidates participate each year. The other exams conducted by KEAM are Architecture, Pharmacy, BDS, Ayurveda, Homeo, Siddha, Unani, Forestry, Veterinary and Fisheries.
The medical courses in Kerala include MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BHMS & BUMS under the Kerala University of Health Sciences. These courses are of five and half year donation including one-year rotatory internship.
Admission to the private medical colleges in India is done through the national exam – National Eligibility CUM Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET-UG exam is going to be conducted on May 5, 2019. The candidates who score the required cutoff of the NEET exam are required to register for the State Counselling for the seat allotment. For Kerala, the state counselling is done by Commissioner of Entrance Exams who will prepare a Kerala State Rank List of NEET-UG 2018.
The categorization of seats in Self-financing Colleges run by institutions under Govt. control and other Private Self-financing colleges will be notified separately.
The allotments/admissions to the State Quota seats in all the Government as well as Private Self-Financing Medical colleges shall be done through a Common Counselling conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.
The Common Counselling will include NRI seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges.
Eligibility for Admissions under NRI Quota in Private Medical Colleges
Candidates seeking admission to the NRI Quota seats in private/self-financing medical colleges are required to submit the documents listed below and are required for verification.
Relationship certificate of the Sponsor and students to be issued by the Revenue Authorities.
Overseas Employment Certificate issued by the Employer, attested by the Embassy and if self-employed, it should also be attested by the Embassy.
Passport with Visa stamped on it and attested by the Embassy.
Sponsorship Certificate: A self-affidavit of the relationship between the sponsor and the candidate.
Only Indian Citizen/Overseas citizen of India/Person of Indian Origin with a relevant document to proof his/her citizenship can be a sponsor.
Similar to the admission to NRI seats done in 2017, the admissions in 2018 will be made on the basis of NEET-UG 2018 merit ranks of eligible NRI aspirants who have applied online at CEE. The CEE will prepare a State rank for Kerala State Rank List of NEET-UG 2018.
The financially supporting NRI relative of the candidate can only be a “Blood relative” such as own parents and siblings and parents siblings like Father/Mother/ Brother/Sister/Uncle/Aunt.
NRI seat aspirants must furnish the photocopies of supporting documents listed below:
NRI status certificate of the financial supporter issued by the embassy of the respective country under their seal.
Copy of NRI Bank account passbook of the financial supporter.
Copy of Passport of financial supporter.
Private medical colleges in Kerala Admissions
The first round of Kerala MBBS counselling is conducted after the results of NEET-UG are declared. The aspirants interested in joining the private medical colleges in Kerala are required to register with the state counselling authority – Commissioner of Entrance Exam. The counselling for Kerala for NRI candidates will be conducted online. The candidates are required to submit their options on the web portal for Kerala MBBS admission. The process for MBBS counselling comprises of registration, option entry, details submission and option locking. There will be three rounds of counselling for private medical colleges in Kerala for NRI including a mop-up round of counselling.
