NRI Admissions: 11 Deemed Universities for MBBS with fee range $42000 - $45000

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regulates the medical education in India at all levels – undergraduate, postgraduate as well as Diploma courses. The admissions to the programme is merit-based and done by the Medical Council Committee which conducts counselling sessions after the candidate is declared eligible by the national level medical entrance examination – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG).

 

Admission to the MBBS courses offered by deemed universities is through a Common Entrance Test conducted by CBSE. The counselling process starts after the declaration of the results. The candidates who are declared eligible for counselling are required to visit the site of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Next, they require select ‘UG Medical Counseling’. On this page, the aspirants can select and register for All India Quota Counseling, AFMC Medical Counseling, Deemed/ Central Universities, and ESI Medical Counseling for IP wards only.

 

Candidates are required select and register for the particular counselling they are interested and eligible for.

1. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: SDU Medical College, Kolar-

Located in Kolar, the college has a huge campus close to Bangalore. The medical college offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as diploma courses. Doctoral programmes in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco- Surgery are planned to start soon. The medical college is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). This medical institution has a unique distinction of accreditation by NAAC India and certification by ISO 9001-2000 and maintains a high standard in the teaching-learning evaluation process.

A total of 23 seats are available for NRI candidates declared eligible by the NEET- UG.  The opening NEET rank for Round 1 for 81603 and closing rank is 447171 for 2017 – 18. The opening and closing rank for Round 2 is 416978. The college charges a moderate fee from NRI candidates as compared to a number of other colleges. The annual MBBS NRI quota fees charged from a candidate in 2017 – 2018 is $42000.

 

2.Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and RI, Kancheepuram-

Located close to Chennai, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute is a deemed university and has been approved by the MCI to impart medical education with an intake of 150 students. The medical college has state-of-the-art equipment and teaching aids to impart quality education to their students.

The college has 22 seats available for NRI candidates declared eligible by NEET. The eligible students have to register at the MCI site for the counselling process. The opening and closing All India Rank(AIR) for NRI candidates for 2017 – 18 is 160297 and 507698 respectively. In round 2, the opening and closing rank is 474854.

The course fee charged from NRI students is higher than the Indian candidates. The fee is moderately charged as compared to some other colleges. The per annum MBBS NRI quota fees charged in 2017 – 2018 is $42000.

 

3. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: MGMC and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry-

Sree Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry is Deemed University ranked amongst the top 100 Universities in India in NIRF Rankings 2017. The institution offers undergraduate course (MBBS) and postgraduate MD/MS/MDS Courses.

As many as 37 seats are available for NRI candidates declared eligible by NEET. The candidates declared eligible by NEET have to register at the MCI site for further counselling process. The opening and closing All India Rank(AIR) for NRI candidates for 2017 – 18 is 140918 and 529063 respectively.

As directed by the MCI, an NRI candidate cannot be charged more than five times the fee charged to a resident Indian candidate. Though the fee charged by MGMC and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry from NRI candidate is more than that for resident Indians, it still is one of the colleges which do not charge a very high fee. The per annum MBBS NRI quota fees charged in 2017 – 2018 is $42000.

 

4. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: ACS Medical College and Hospital, Chennai-

ACS medical college and Hospital, Chennai, is the Faculty of Medical Sciences, DR M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, deemed to be university. The institution accepts 150 students in its MBBS programme each year. A total of 22 seats are available for international students including NRI, PIO and foreign nationals who are interested to pursue the programme in India. The aspirants are required to qualify NEET –UG and register for the counselling process.

The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 are 145061 and 586756 respectively. While the All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 2 of the counselling are 355760 and 513051.

The institution charges a moderately high fee as compared to a number of other institutions. The per year MBBS NRI quota fees charged to NRI students in 2017 – 2018 is $42000.

           

5. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: K.S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru-

A part of the NITTE, deemed to be university, K.S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru was incorporated in 2009. The institution has been providing quality medical education to 150 students each year. The intake for the five and half year course which includes one year of compulsory rotatory internship is done through on the basis of NEET ranking. A total of 23 NRI students are also accepted by the institution based on their NEET ranking. Aspirants under the NRI category are required to separately apply with the registration fee of Rs 1000/- by DD favouring “Nitte University” payable at Mangaluru.

The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 are 127705 and 305242 respectively. While the All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 2 of the counselling are 129498 and 292819.

The fee charged from the NRI candidates is more than that charged from general resident Indians. The annual course MBBS NRI quota fees charged from the 2017 – 18 batch students is $43400.

 

6. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Orissa-

Established in 2005, the institution has been imparting quality medical education approved by the Medical Council of India for undergraduate education (MBBS) since 2007 – 08 and postgraduate courses (MD) from 2011. The institution accepts 150 students for its MBBS programme. The institute also accepts foreign nationals, NRI and PIO aspirants for its programmes. A total of 23 seats are available for such aspirants declared eligible by the national level exam NEET.  The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 237498 and 541922 respectively.

The institute charges a higher fee from the international aspirants. The annual MBBS NRI quota fees charged from the 2017 – 18 batch students is $44000.

 

7. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: VMKV Medical College and Hospital, Salem-

Started in 1995, Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College, Salem is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu. The institute offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in Medical Sciences. The institute is recognized by the MCI.

VMKV Medical College accepts 100 students each year. As many as 15 NRI candidates are also accepted at the institute. The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 173218 and 378693 respectively.

NRI students pay a higher fee per annum. The annual MBBS NRI quota fees charged from the 2017 – 18 batch students is $45000.

 

8. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: Krishna Institute of Medical. Sciences, Karad, Maharashtra-

Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Karad is established in 1984 and has an 1100 bed hospital attached. The institute accepts 200 students for its MBBS programme each year. The institution also offers postgraduate programmes in 18 disciplines offering a total of 23 programmes.

At least 20 NRI candidates are also accepted at the Institute for the MBBS course. The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 62596 and 386213 respectively.

Like all the other medical colleges, KIMS charges a different fee from its NRI aspirants which is more than the resident Indian candidates. NRI candidates in 2017 – 18 paid MBBS NRI quota fees of $45000.

 

9. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI:: Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute(MMCHRI), Chennai-

Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute is located in Kanchipuram and is recognized by the Medical Council of India. Meenakshi Medical College was given the status of deemed to be university in 2003. Admission to the MBBS course is done on the basis of eligibility declared by the NEET. The institution offers MBBS programme to 150 students each year. There are 22 seats available for NRI aspirants who want to study at the institute. The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 279472 and 479334 respectively for NRI candidates.  The per annum course fee for resident Indian INR 18,50,000 (≃ $29000), the per annum MBBS NRI quota fees is $45000.

 

10. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: Dr. DY Patil Medical College, Navi Mumbai-

Founded in 1989, Dr. DY Patil Medical College was initially affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik (MUHS). The institution offers MBBS course to 250 candidates since 2015. The number of seats was raised from 150 to 250 in 2015. As many as 38 seats are offered to the NRI candidates interested to pursue their MBBS course here. The admission is merit-based and only offered to candidates declared eligible by NEET. The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 212473 and 517881 respectively for NRI candidates.  The AIR opening and closing rank for round 2 were 382119.  The per annum course fee for resident Indian INR 25,00,000 (≃ $38,496), the per annum MBBS NRI quota fees is $45000.

 

11. Deemed Universities for MBBS for NRI: Saveetha Medical College, Chennai-

Saveetha Medical College was established in 2008 in Chennai under the Saveetha University. The college has been offering medical education like MBBS and paramedical degree courses since 2008. Since 2013, the college has been approved to impart postgraduate degree courses in clinical as well as non-clinical fields. A total of 150 seats are approved for the MBBS course. As many as 22 seats are available for NRI candidates to pursue MBBS course at Saveetha Medical Collge.

The opening and closing All India Ranks of NEET – UG for round 1 of the counselling for 2017 – 18 were 187230 and 647124 respectively for NRI candidates.  The AIR opening and closing rank for round 2 were 336442  and 531076.  The annual course fee for resident Indian INR 19,50,000 (≃ $30,028), the annual MBBS NRI quota fees is $45000.
