Major visa related issues for students to study abroad
A visa is a travel document required by countries in addition to your passport. The visa shows that “a person is authorized to enter the territory for which [the visa] was issued, subject to the permission of an immigration official at the time of actual entry.” It’s basically permission to travel to that country. Visa procedures are different for each country, and processing times can take as little as one day or as long as three months.
Since the processing time of the student visa varies, the candidates must apply as soon as they get the final confirmation letter from the university or institute. Before that, the student must look at the country's consular website and familiarize himself with student visa requirements.
“You should apply for visa as soon as possible you can. Generally, this means as soon as you have decided which school you want to attend and have received the official I-20 or admission letter from indicating academic acceptance at that institution”,

Reasons to deny visa
There are many reasons for the denial of student visa. If the visa gets denied, the student will not be able to join the course abroad. Some of the major reasons behind denial of visa are listed below:
- Failure in providing all the necessary documents for visa
- Incomplete visa application form
- Documentation fraud
- Criminal background of the applicant
- Failure to provide enough financial resources to support the studies and stay in the host country
What happens if visa doesn't get fixed before the programme begins?
Embassies and visa processing centres take into account the exact dates of the starting of the session at the university and process the application accordingly. However, if for some reason the visa arrives only after the program has begun, the college admin can be informed about the same and they can allow the student to join in a little late into the course. According to Kuldeep Kamboj: "if your student visa does not get fixed and your intended course begins then you can always take 10 to 15 days extension from prospective school or college. If it gets delayed, then you will have to join during next intake."
