The Global Employability University Ranking 2014 conducted by French human resources consulting group Emerging Associates on the performance of the universities in graduate employment placed University of Cambridge at the top, followed by Harvard University, Yale University and University of Oxford. The top ten Universities for global employability include six from the United States, two from the United Kingdom, one from Germany and one from Japan.
While Harvard University managed to maintain the second position in both 2013 and 2014, University of Oxford slipped two positions down from first to fourth position. The Emerging Associates has conducted the global employability ranking 2014 in association with Trendence, a German polling and research institute. The ranking was made on the basis of the survey on 2,500 international recruiters based in 20 countries.
Methodology of Global Employability University Ranking 2014
The global employability ranking was conducted in two field phases:
Phase 1: Tomorrow’s universities survey
The survey was carried out between June and September 2014 where 2,200 from 20 countries responded to the online and telephone survey. The respondents included managers experienced in recruiting or working with graduates, professionals with more than four years of experience and the managers who recruit employees from different countries.
Phase 2: Global employability ranking survey
There were two groups involved in the global employability ranking 2014 survey. The first group had 2,200 recruiters who were asked to choose the local universities in their country that produced the best recruits. The managers who have experience in recruiting international students were asked to choose the global universities that had the best recruits from the list of top universities for employability 2013. Each participant was given ten votes to cast. The second group had 2,300 CEOs and Chairs selected exclusively from top 1000 companies in 20 countries. Each respondent gave ten votes.
