BRICS Rankings 2016-
China continues to maintain its dominance in the league tables as the country captures majority of the slots in the BRICS and Emerging Economies Rankings 2016. The country has overall 39 representations in the top 200 universities in the BRICS and Emerging Economies published by Times Higher Education (THE), which is an increase of around 11 universities from the previous year’s ranking.

Peking University, which ranks 42nd in the THE World University Rankings 2015-2016, makes it to the top slot of the BRICS Rankings for the third consecutive year while Tsinghua University maintains its place in the 2nd position of the leagues table. In all, 50% of the top 10 universities chunk is captured by Chinese universities, including University of Cape Town, University of Science and Technology of China and Zhejiang University apart from Peking and Tsinghua University. The other five spots have been taken up by Lomonosov Moscow State University, National Taiwan University, University of the Witwatersrand and University of São Paulo from Russia, Taiwan, South Africa and Brazil respectively.

India fails to make it to the top 10 rankings yet again, but still makes a headway in the rankings as 16 Indian universities figure in the top 200 of the BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2016. Also, the top two Indian institutes -- Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay -- have gained considerable points from last year to be in the 16th and 29th positions respectively.

Russia has 15 universities in the BRICS rankings 2016 with Lomonosov Moscow State University going up by two positions to be at number 3.

Russia is followed by Brazil, which has 14 universities in the top 200 of BRICS Ranking 2016.

BRICS and Emerging Economies Rankings 2016 has universities from the “BRICS” nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – as well as other countries defined by the Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) as Advanced Emerging, Secondary Emerging or Frontier Economies. Overall 35 countries made it to the final top 200 ranking from a total of 48 eligible countries where China captures the top spots in THE BRICS Rankings 2016.

is it good doing genitic engineering in Russia

dheeraj reddy 15th Feb, 2020
Hi tohith

I wouldn't recommend at all. For genetic engineering, there are much better options in US/UK with world-class universities and laboratories. Russian universities are on par in few fields of engineering like aerospace but even then it is tough for international students to study there and work later on. Language would be an issue too.
So I wouldn't recommend russia for your studies as there are much better alternatives including India.

Goodluck !

Animesh Vats Student Expert 15th Feb, 2020

Hi,

Well I would  like to tell you that if you want to study your PG from Russian itself then you can do so by easily following the same process for admission for each university by watching the admission requirements of particular college.

I hope my answer helps.
